General Information

ICSD is a Non-Profit Private Body that operates in Ioannina, Perama (Regional Unit of Ioannina), Athens, Igoumenitsa, Filiates, Akropotamia (Regional Unit of Arta) and Municipality of Nikolaos Skoufas. ICSD has got 126 full time, 6 part – time employees and 10 volunteers. The revenue of ICSD is over 3 million euros (€) per year. The sources of funding are National and European Programs (eg Erasmus). ICSD ‘s projects include housing, consulting, workshops, travels, reports, exchanges, conferences etc of various target groups, such as refugees, social enterprises, youth etc. ICSD is capable of mobilizing volunteers and many organizations that can contribute in its aims, such as local governments, social enterprises, bodies of health services etc. Finally, ICSD has got networks of partners all over Europe (eg Turkey, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Cyprus, Italy, Bulgaria, Romania, United Kingdom etc) and it is also capable of building and leading Partnerships.

Mission and Objectives

The International Centre for Sustainable Development (ICSD) is a Non-profit Organisation established in Ioannina, Greece, since 2011. With offices in both Ioannina and Athens, the ICSD aims to support activities that contribute to sustainable development. The ICSD supports: 1. projects related to economic development, enterpreneurship, regional planning, social and economic development and 2. a significant number of projects related to the support of vulnerable social groups.

Main Projects / Activities

ICSD implements the following activities: Consulting: the ICSD provides technical advice and information to businesses, agencies, institutions, organisations and young enterpeneurs on topics related to economy, society and the environment. Erasmus+ and Educational projects: the ICSD participates in educational projects and training activities both in Greece and abroad. National and European programs: the ICSD works on a large number of research projects with both national and European partners. Workshops and conferences: the ICSD organises conferences, seminars and workshops. Volunteering: the ICSD in cooperation with the local authorities participate in voluntary actions for the protection of vulnerable social groups and the support of refugees and immigrants. The ICSD is a certified organization, for social economy and entrepreneurship by the Greek state. Since 2011, the foundation of the organization, the ICSD has implemented many projects and has participated in several workshops that support entrepreneurship or the protection and the social inclusion of refugees. It has a close cooperation with several Institutes and Organizations aiming at sustainable development. Finally, ICSD is certified by the National Agency as Sending, Hosting and Coordinating organization, in European Voluntary Service (EVS) projects.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

ICSD has a dense network of cooperations and it has implemented successfully many projects. ICSD operates in many locations in Athens and in the region of Epirus and it has plenty of cooperations with bodies of Local Governments, bodies of Social and Solidarity Economy, bodies of Public Health etc, including many Partners all over Europe. The protection of vulnerable groups and the Social and Solidarity Economy are key – elements of ICSD’s activities and the fields in which it has got most of its experience. By becoming a member of the Greek Network of ALF, ICSD can share its vast knowledge on social inclusion and Social and Solidarity Economy with its new partners. It can also contribute in activities of raising awareness about the aims and the projects of the Greek Network of ALF and it can provide feed – back and information, concerning the situation and the problems of vulnerable social groups in Greece.

ICSD is always seeking for opportunities to expand the network of its partnerships and upgrading the potential of its capacities, through common actions, projects etc. ICSD considers that it would be mutually beneficial if ICSD was a part of Greek Network of ALF, working closely with the other members for the promotion of the social inclusion, the Social and Solidarity Economy and the sustainable development.
