The Kenyans In Malta Association is an organisation that aims to bring together Kenyan citizens and residents currently residing in Malta.To connect and empower Kenyans living in Malta by providing social support, cultural activities, legal/administrative guidance, and opportunities for education, business and community development — both in Malta and through development projects in Kenya
Mission and Objectives
Promote the welfare and interests of Kenyans living in Malta.
Foster community, cultural exchange, and mutual support among members.
Provide resources and assistance to Kenyans in need.
Advocate for the rights and representation of Kenyans in Malta.
Engage in charitable initiatives to support Kenyan communities and projects.
Main Projects / Activities
Civic Engagement & Advocacy
• Liaise with the Kenyan Embassy / Consulate to ensure diaspora needs are represented.
• Advocate for better consular services.
• Organize voter registration / information for Kenyan elections (if applicable).
• Participation in Maltese local civic activities (volunteering, inter-cultural dialogue).
Intercultural & Integration Activities
• Events that build bridges with local Maltese communities (e.g. joint festivals, cooking exchanges).
• Cultural sensitization sessions: for both Kenyans in Malta, and locals, to foster mutual understanding.
• Language exchange (Maltese / English / Swahili).
Cultural & Community Building
• Regular meet-ups (monthly or quarterly) for community bonding (e.g. dinners, cultural nights, music, dance).
• Kenyan cultural festivals showcasing food, dress, music, dance.
Education & Skills Development
• Tutoring programmes for Kenyan children in Malta (help with language, school subjects).
• Workshops on navigating the Maltese education system.
• Computer literacy, digital skills training.
Social Support & Welfare
• Support for new arrivals: helping with housing, legal guidance, navigating Maltese bureaucracy (residency, work permits, etc.).
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
1. Cultural Exchange and Dialogue
Organise Kenyan cultural events (food festivals, music, traditional dances, storytelling) as part of ALF’s intercultural dialogue activities.
2. Migration and Integration Support
Share lived experiences of Kenyan migrants in Malta to inform ALF discussions on migration, inclusion, and diversity.
Provide mentorship or orientation sessions for newcomers from Kenya and other African countries, helping ALF meet its goal of building inclusive societies.
3. Youth and Education Initiatives
Run youth leadership workshops for both Maltese and African youth under ALF’s Mediterranean dialogue programs.
Partner with ALF Malta to create exchange programs where Kenyan youth in Malta collaborate with Maltese peers on social entrepreneurship, art, or sustainability.
4. Women’s Empowerment and Community Building
Launch women’s empowerment projects (entrepreneurship, skills development, cultural awareness) under ALF’s intercultural and gender equality framework.
Share Kenyan traditions of community cooperation (“harambee” spirit) as models for intercultural solidarity.
5. Storytelling and Media
Contribute to ALF campaigns through storytelling, short films, or exhibitions that highlight the Kenyan diaspora experience in Malta.
Use media platforms to promote positive narratives of migration, fighting stereotypes and promoting dialogue.
6. Partnership in ALF Projects
Apply jointly with other Maltese ALF members for EU or ALF-funded projects in cultural diversity, education, or community cohesion.
