Halima Tahiri is a PhD student at Kuleuven university at the Research Unit Education, Culture and Society. In 2018 she graduated with a BA degree in English studies from Morocco. Then she was awarded a master degree in Gender studies. Since October 2022 , she started working on her PhD project on the history of gender representation in Moroccan primary school textbook. Halima has actively contributed to a successful completion of internship held by INSAT association for combating violence against women. she is an author of two publications in the field of gender, she participated in several national and international conferences. Her fields of interest are: History of education, gender, women's studies, cultural studies, media, applied linguistics, multilingualism, and discourse analysis.
Mission and Objectives
My mission as a feminist is to advocate for gender equality, empower marginalized voices, and challenge systemic injustices that perpetuate discrimination and violence against women and gender minorities. I aim to create a society where everyone, regardless of gender, has equal rights, opportunities, and access to resources, fostering an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and promotes social justice.
Objectives
Raise Awareness: Educate individuals and communities about gender issues, the importance of feminism, and the impact of patriarchy on society.
Empower Women: Support initiatives that empower women through education, mentorship, and leadership opportunities, helping them to realize their potential.
Advocate for Policy Change: Work towards the implementation of policies that protect women's rights, promote gender equality, and address issues such as domestic violence, reproductive rights, and workplace discrimination.
Support Intersectionality: Recognize and address the diverse experiences of women, particularly those from marginalized communities, ensuring that all voices are heard and represented in the feminist movement.
Promote Healthy Relationships: Encourage discussions around consent, respect, and healthy relationships to combat violence and promote understanding among all genders.
Foster Community Engagement: Collaborate with local organizations, activists, and community members to create programs and initiatives that address gender-based violence and inequality.
Encourage Men as Allies: Engage men in the conversation about feminism, encouraging them to become allies in the fight for gender equality and to challenge toxic masculinity.
Main Projects / Activities
wareness Campaigns: Organize workshops, seminars, and social media campaigns to educate the community about gender equality, women's rights, and the impact of violence against women. Use storytelling and personal narratives to highlight real-life experiences.
Support Groups: Establish support groups for survivors of gender-based violence, providing a safe space for sharing experiences, healing, and accessing resources. Facilitate peer support and professional counseling services.
Educational Programs: Develop and implement educational programs in schools and community centers that focus on consent, healthy relationships, and gender equality. Create age-appropriate materials to engage young people in discussions about feminism.
Advocacy Initiatives: Collaborate with local and national organizations to advocate for policy changes that protect women's rights, such as improved legislation on domestic violence, reproductive health, and workplace equality.
Mentorship Programs: Create mentorship initiatives that connect young women and girls with female leaders in various fields, providing guidance, support, and networking opportunities to empower the next generation.
