Mission and Objectives

Arts & Dialogue Foundation, established in 2016, is primarily based at De Hallen in Amsterdam-West, with activities also taking place at various other locations in Amsterdam and beyond. Our mission is to stimulate the role of art in society and to foster dialogue between different communities, cultures, nationalities, and religions. To this end, we organize, present, and facilitate performances, concerts, debates, events, and gatherings with cultural, social, and political relevance.

Arts & Dialogue is founded on the belief that art and culture have the power to build bridges and bring important issues to the forefront. Not out of a naïve assumption that art can solve social problems or serve political goals, but from a conviction that art can promote mutual understanding and offer fresh perspectives where entrenched views dominate. By encouraging people to discover a passion for art, we create a space where professionals, amateurs, and audiences can engage with social themes.

Through a wide range of productions and co-productions, the foundation aims to build new connections between people, both among performers and within the audience. The performing arts are particularly well-suited for this purpose. All of our performances are presented as “language no problem,” ensuring that non-Dutch speakers are fully included. The collaborative process of rehearsals and performances enables ideas and perspectives to merge, creating opportunities for new insights to arise. With diverse projects, we strive to initiate and sustain a socio-cultural dialogue that inspires reflection on solutions for a better world.

For audiences, our goal is to make cultural experiences accessible and inviting, opening doors to art forms they might not otherwise encounter. We bring together people from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. For artists, we provide a platform for emerging talent—particularly promising young dance makers and musicians at the beginning of their careers.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

In many ways, just to name a few: we have our own large international network of artists and 'people interested in various forms of dialogue and we have access to affordable venues and spaces

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Founder/director Gary Feingold was also founder/director of Dancing on the Edge established in 2007, and had then a relationship with the ALF. After speaking to Feri de Geus from Le Grand Cru, who spoke about the revival of the NL network of ALF and the good work being done now, we think that it would be great to join! In addtion, we would like to do more international projects, so the ALF framework would be a good one
