Mission and Objectives

NEFELES - "Center for Arts and Visual Therapy" is dedicated to using art as a therapeutic medium to enhance well-being. The center aims to promote the use of art for therapy, advocate for individuals who use art as a means of healing, and foster public dialogue around the therapeutic benefits of art. Objectives Education and Awareness: Educate the public and institutions about art therapy and its applications. Advocacy: Support the rights of individuals who use art as therapy. Public Dialogue: Promote discussions about art as a tool for healing. Therapeutic Services: Provide art therapy sessions for various emotional and psychological needs, including trauma, depression, and learning disabilities. Community Engagement: Implement programs and workshops that foster creativity and personal development for both adults and children. Collaboration: Partner with local and international organizations to enhance art therapy practices and promote cultural exchanges.

Main Projects / Activities

Nefeles main pillars of work are: art for education, art for wellbeing and art therapy. Nefeles offers: Individual and Group Sessions: Providing personalized and group art therapy sessions to address various psychological and emotional needs, including trauma recovery, depression, low self-confidence, eating disorders, with autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, PTSD and more. Local and International Partnerships: Collaborating with other organizations to create and exhibit art projects that foster community engagement and cross-cultural dialogue. Professional Development: Conducting seminars on art therapy, mental health, and related topics for professionals and the public. Experiential Workshops: Offering hands-on workshops for adults and children to further understand art therapy and enhance personal creativity. Public Awareness Campaigns: Organizing seminars, presentations, and media campaigns to raise awareness about art therapy and its benefits for mental health. Community Collaboration: Working with local institutions to implement art making for all communities, art therapy programs and community outreach activities. Healthcare Integration: Collaborating with healthcare providers to integrate art therapy into various mental health settings.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

As a representative of NEFELES I am confident that our organization can make significant contributions to the Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF) Network in Cyprus through our expertise in art therapy, our commitment to mental health and well-being, and our dedication to intercultural dialogue. Here are some specific ways we can contribute: 1. Promoting Intercultural Dialogue: Organize art exhibitions and workshops that bring together diverse communities in Cyprus to explore and express cultural identities and experiences. These events can serve as platforms for intercultural dialogue and understanding. Partner with other ALF Network members to develop collaborative art projects that address common social issues, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose among participants from different cultural backgrounds. 2. Empowering Young Voices: Implement art therapy programs specifically designed for youth, helping them to express their emotions, build self-esteem, and develop coping skills. These programs can be integrated into schools and community centers across Cyprus. Create initiatives that empower young people to take leadership roles in promoting mental health and intercultural dialogue. This can include training sessions, mentorship programs, and opportunities for youth to lead art therapy workshops. 3. Enhancing Arts Therapies Awareness and social impact: Raise awareness about the benefits of art therapy and the importance of mental health. Utilize various media platforms, including social media, television, and print media, to reach a wide audience. Organize seminars and workshops for educators, healthcare professionals, and the general public to educate them about art therapy and its applications in mental health care. Provide practical tools and resources that can be used in various settings. 4.
