General Information

La Casa dels Futurs (The House of Futures) is a project to create long-term physical, social and educational infrastructure to cross-pollinate intersectional and contextualized solutions for the Mediterranean region in times of climate crisis.

Mission and Objectives

La Casa dels Futurs works to build networks of mutual aid and climate resilience in the Mediterranean to incubate practical and social solutions that can be shared, adapted and replicated across the entire region. We are working to open a permanent Climate Justice Center and Movement School that will support mutual aid and cooperation among social and environmental movements from around the Mediterranean so that they may better thrive on a damaged planet.

Main Projects / Activities

For the past two years, we have organized an annual "Mediterranean Climate Justice Gathering" that brings together diverse actors from around the Mediterranean region to explore and co-create solutions for ecological and social movements to better thrive in times of climate crisis. More information: https://www.casafuturs.org/projecte/justicia-climatica-mediterranea/ and https://www.casafuturs.org/projecte/second-mediterranean-gathering/

We have currently confirmed core-funding to organize Mediterranean Climate Justice Gatherings for the coming 3 years.

Additionally, we facilitate a popular climate justice circus ( https://www.casafuturs.org/circ-popular/ ) that uses arts and culture as a popular education tool to bring intersectional issues of climate justice to periferial neighborhoods of Barcelona.

We have organized a series of "Popular Schools" around issues such as decolonial organizing, educational pedagogies, ecofeminisms, anti-racist climate justice and others.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We are deeply embedded in the global climate justice movement, as well as numerous existing and emerging Mediterranean climate justice initiatives. We have experience in creative facilitation and pedagogies that can help build common cause among social justice and environmental justice movements.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We are actively working to expand our networks in the Mediterranean region, as part of a growing push for a coordinated Mediterranean Climate Justice movement. Our overall project objective is to establish a permanent climate justice center in the Mediterranean region that can cross-pollinate bioregional climate solutions applicable across the entire Mediterranean region.
