Lammet Sahafa is a Palestinian journalist community present on social media since the beginning of 2011. It comprises over a thousand Palestinian journalists from the occupied territory and the diaspora. It was officially established and licensed as a non-profit company in 2017 by relevant authorities to take a more systematic and organized approach in enriching Palestinian media content.
Lammet Sahafa envisions a Palestinian media field that is able to reflect the Palestinian narrative, amplify Palestinian voices, and provide relevant content through employing new media tools.
Lammet Sahafa also addresses pressing challenge that is related to the lack of employment opportunities for media and journalism graduates in the media sector in Palestine. This issue stems from two main factors which are the educational system and the lack of employment opportunities in the field of Media and Journalism. Therefore, Lammet Sahafa focuses and gives a special importance to Media and Journalism fresh graduates in particular, as they are the main roles’ players in the needed change in the field. Moreover, it aims to give young journalists an opportunity to create professional, media content that focuses on neglected issues creatively away from traditional media stereotypes, especially those related to the economy, sports and women, culture and creativity. This helps in improving the Palestinian narrative reach and quality of productions.
Lammet Sahafa contributes to the development of the media landscape by addressing important issues such as ethical journalism practices, the importance of relying on reliable sources in news reporting, combating journalistic theft, respecting the rights of journalists and media institutions, ensuring freedom of expression, and the impact of technological advancements in the field of media.
It also serves as a primary source for journalists to exchange information and raise questions about the mechanisms of accessing sources, such as event headlines, timing, or contact information with relevant individuals.
Lammet Sahafa also advocates for the free flow of information and news and is dedicated to improving journalistic practices and methods. This journalistic community sheds light on the challenges faced by Palestinian journalists, including arrests, detentions, injuries, and restrictions on coverage imposed by Israeli occupation forces. It creates a space of solidarity and support for any journalist facing violations.
Moreover, Lammet Sahafa community raises its voice loudly to ensure freedom of opinion, expression, and media work in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly in areas under the control of the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and Gaza. It strives
to create a collective movement and public opinion against any attempts to restrict or undermine these freedoms.
Mission and Objectives
Working towards creating a quantum leap in developing the Palestinian media scene, aiming at presenting Palestine to the world as a hub for entrepreneurship and innovation, despite all challenges. Our focus will be on social issues that are critical, however marginalized in the media sector, particularly concerning youth, women, and people with disabilities. These issues will be presented in innovative ways that continually evolve and capable of reaching and influencing Palestinian society, the Arab world, and the international community.
Lammet Sahafa is dedicated to empowering journalists, particularly young journalists, by equipping them with the necessary skills and experiences to address and discuss the pressing marginalized societal issues in creative and innovative ways. Through our efforts, we aim to create both temporary and sustainable employment opportunities while fostering capacity development in various fields, including digital economy, environment, sustainability, and more.
Moreover, we aspire to establish ourselves as a pioneering media institution, actively proposing mechanisms to foster local, regional, and global partnerships that promote sustainability and contribute to the socio-economic development goals. Additionally, we are committed to advocating for essential policies that encourage entrepreneurial youth, enhance the role of women, and ensure justice for them as influential partners in all aspects of life.
Vision
To be among the fastest growing and influential forces of positive change in shaping and conveying the Palestinian media landscape at the local, regional, and global levels.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
I can contribute to the network in my country by fostering collaboration between journalists and local media institutions and providing platforms for sharing expertise and knowledge. Additionally, I can offer specialized training programs to enhance the skills of network members and work on producing media content that reflects local issues and serves the community. Furthermore, I aim to leverage partnerships with local and international organizations to ensure the network’s sustainability and amplify its impact in Palestine.
