General Information

Learning Unit Malta was set up in 2023 with the aim of becoming an active social partner in the field of youth, mostly for young people who are in higher levels of education. It is inspired by the need for young people to supplement their formal education with engagement as citizens and as young future professionals. With the principle of catching them young, Learning Unit Malta aims to start up young minds into thinking of sustainability in a different way so that it includes social solidarity, social empathy and social justice considerations in policy, enterprise and social dynamics.

Mission and Objectives

Its mission is to become a vehicle for positive engagement for and between young people who have the energy to bring change through new mindsets. Learning Unit Malta’s objective is to foster positive attitudes in society that are youth-led and that are innovative in the use of communication and this is because communication and narratives help one understand better and provides a space for active debate for all.

Main Projects / Activities

In its first two years Learning Unit Malta has been engaged in a European project for the promotion of youths as citizens and change makers and it has helped develop tools for cooperation, ideation and civic engagement by young present and future professionals. It is also exploring new dynamics for youth engagement that extend to remote volunteering, more and better structured volunteering and new tools for validation of informal learning experiences. It is also building a youth base to expand its membership among young people following formal education at higher levels of studies.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We will bring a Mediterranean dimension to the work of Learning Unit Malta with young people. Our team brings experience in working on lifelong learning experiences and growth for youths as citizens and as future professionals. We bring our awareness of the importance of growing into citizens who are active and who have critical minds because they understand their context and, over time, develop socio emotional and social justice awareness. This experience will be a two way exchange between our membership in the ALF Network and our groups of youths that are keen on communication, exchange and creative dialogue.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We are aware that there is no broad vision without a cross border understanding of our context and this is what we wish to bring to our audience and to our social partners. For us the ALF Network is an optimum platform for dialogue and for historical, socio economic understanding of the changes happening around us and the change that young people can bring about.
