The Lebanese Youth Network (LYN) is a non-governmental, youth-led organization based in the Baalbek-Hermel region of Lebanon. Established to promote social justice, civic responsibility, and youth participation, LYN works to empower young people through inclusive programs that combine sports, education, arts, and psychosocial support. The organization creates safe and creative spaces where youth especially those from marginalized communities, can develop life skills, express themselves freely, and contribute actively to building a more just and peaceful society.
Mission and Objectives
Mission:
The Lebanese Youth Network (LYN) seeks to empower young people and foster active citizenship by promoting social inclusion, human rights, and community engagement through sports, arts, education, and psychosocial support.
Objectives:
Create safe and inclusive spaces for youth to develop their talents and leadership skills.
Enhance youth participation in social, cultural, and civic life.
Provide psychosocial support through creative and recreational activities.
Promote gender equality and empower young women and girls.
Support access to education and literacy for vulnerable groups.
Encourage peaceful dialogue, tolerance, and social cohesion in diverse communities.
Main Projects / Activities
- LYN Sports Academy: A multi-sport training center in Baalbek-Hermel offering programs in football, judo, gymnastics, taekwondo, and swimming, with a focus on youth and gender inclusion.
- Psychosocial Support Through Music: Interactive sessions and workshops using music and art as tools for healing, self-expression, and emotional support for youth affected by conflict and social challenges.
- Annual Youth Music Festival: A large-scale cultural event showcasing youth talent and promoting social cohesion and peacebuilding through music and performance.
- Educational Support Programs: Remedial classes, literacy training, and school retention initiatives targeting vulnerable children and adolescents.
-- Youth Empowerment Workshops: Trainings focused on leadership, civic engagement, human rights, and gender equality to encourage active youth participation in public life.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
We can contribute to the Network in Lebanon by sharing our extensive grassroots experience in youth engagement, psychosocial support, and cultural dialogue in underserved regions such as Baalbek-Hermel. Through our ongoing work in sports, music, and educational empowerment, we can support the Network’s mission by organizing inclusive local events, mobilizing young people especially girls and marginalized youth, and creating safe spaces for dialogue and expression. We are also committed to contributing to national campaigns, cross-organizational collaborations, and capacity-building efforts that promote intercultural understanding, social cohesion, and peacebuilding. Our active presence and established community trust make us well-positioned to connect the Network to remote and often overlooked areas of Lebanon.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
We want to join the Anna Lindh Foundation Network to strengthen our capacity to promote intercultural dialogue and youth empowerment in Lebanon, especially in marginalized communities like Baalbek-Hermel. Joining ALF will enable us to connect with like-minded organizations across the Euro-Mediterranean region, share knowledge and best practices, and collaborate on impactful projects that foster peace, inclusion, and social cohesion. It will also provide us access to valuable resources, training, and funding opportunities, which will enhance our ability to deliver sustainable programs in sports, arts, education, and psychosocial support. Being part of the ALF Network aligns with our vision to build bridges between cultures and empower youth as agents of positive social change.
