Mission and Objectives

Main objectives:

The development and mobility of independent creators of contemporary performing arts and their works, with an emphasis on artists and projects by artists working in the Czech Republic, as well as in Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

The organization of cultural, educational, and training programs and activities.

Efforts to present, promote and disseminate culture not only to a professional audience but also to the general public, primarily in the Czech Republic but also in Central Europe, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

Main Projects / Activities

1, Bazaar Festival is an international showcase of progressive stage works by theatre and dance innovators who maintain a healthy distance from official culture and are unafraid to take risks. The festival’s dramaturgy focuses on makers from the independent scenes in Central and Eastern Europe; since 2019, works by artists from the Middle East have also appeared in the Bazaar programme.

2, The Nature of Us + We, the landscape project
The objective of the international Nature of Us project is to support collaboration and interdisciplinary dialogue between the performing arts and the natural sciences in addressing climate change and environmental conservation. It responds to the performing arts’ needs to gain a solid understanding of the environmental issues and create works that meaningfully address their audiences’ concerns. As a result, enhanced effectiveness of artistic creations and products can be reached in raising awareness of climate change and encouraging taking action. In parallel, scientific partners can find new avenues to communicate through the thriving performing arts world, capitalizing on the narrative, aesthetic, emotional and other creative tools that artists can provide.
We, the landscape project is a sub-programme of the Nature of Us that provides residency opportunities for artists that would like to work in the rural areas and natural protections side. In previous years, Live Performance Bazaar cooperated within the Euro-Med area - Hammana Artistic House (Lebanon), Czech Centres in Egypt (Egypt), Fayoum Arts centre (Egypt), Dance House Lefkosia (Cyprus).

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We are interested to become more active in the Euro-Med area and continue the establish connections in the Middle East region. In Czech Republic, there is only a few organisations that are part of the ALF Network, so we can contribute to promote the ALF network and its activities within the Central Europe region and within our own network of partners.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

Lucia Šimášková, a project manager of the Nature of Us and the We, the landscape project has a background in Middle-Eastern artistic co-operation and recently also attended the ALF Forum in Tirana. As a result of attending several sessions, we got more familiar with the aims and activities of Anna-Lindh Foundation and we would like to become an active part of the network and its programs. The whole team consider the ALF as as a unique network that can help our organization to establish new partnerships and also to kick-off new artistic and scientific co-operation between Central European and Mediterranean region.
