Maat Foundation is an Egyptian non-partisan, non-profit organization active in the field of promotion of human rights; support for democracy and the development of marginalized groups since 2005. Maat has a proven track record of expertise in its work fields through the implementation of more than 20 projects and programs in collaboration with more than 15 donor and development partner, Maat is leading and participating in a number of national and regional networks and alliances, and was the Head of Egyptian network of Anna Lindh Foundation from 2013 to 2016.
Mission and Objectives
Maat seeks to employ the human rights approach and use its mechanisms and tools to promote the values and practices of social peace, development, democracy, good governance and human rights, and to work through international and regional mechanisms and bodies and within a framework of international networks and alliances to advocate and mobilize support to promote peace and sustainable development practices and policies and to combat all forms of violence, conflict and neglect Justice.
Main Projects / Activities
Over 20 years, Maat has been working on several Human Rights issues, including:
1. International and Regional Mechanisms to Protect Human Rights
2. Youth empowerment and inclusion
3. Peace-building and promoting peaceful co-existence
4. Supporting Democracy and fighting Mis\Disinformation
5. Combating Hate Speech and Violent Extremism
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
Maat has been an active member in the national network since its accession, given its long history in the empowerment and capacity-building of Egyptian civil society organizations, especially the fellow members of the network. Maat has a proven experience in enabling NGOs to proposals writing, project implementation and management, contribution to national, regional, and international human rights mechanisms. In addition, Maat played a vital role in connecting various members of the network, including through creating a national coalition for reviewing Egypt's commitment to the UN UPR mechanism in 2016-2017.

ALF network represents a connecting platform between the North and South Euro-Mediterranean cultures and people. Maat Foundation is particularly committed to enhancing the Euro-Med cooperation between NGOs working on intercultural dialogue, peaceful coexistence, combatting hate speech, fighting misinformation and disinformation, either through being an active partner themselves or working as a bridge between other partners.
