The International Centre of Graphic Arts (MGLC) is an art, education, residency and leisure
centre that enriches the lives of all generations by connecting heritage, contemporary art
and nature. Located in Ljubljana, in the heart of Tivoli Park, MGLC is housed in two
remarkable historic buildings: Grad Tivoli since 1986, and Švicarija since 2017. Today,
MGLC also oversees the renovated Plečnikov avditorij, which became part of the complex
in 2023. MGLC is also a museum specialising in printmaking with extensive international
collections and a major producer of graphic works made in the Print Studio. MGLC is also
the main organiser and producer of the Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts, one of the
oldest and largest international exhibitions of graphic and contemporary art in Central
and South-Eastern Europe.
Mission and Objectives
As a socially responsible museum and production center, MGLC’s mission is to preserve,
study, and popularize the material and immaterial heritage of printmaking and visual art
from the 20th century to the present. By bridging heritage, contemporary art, and nature,
MGLC serves as an inclusive cultural hub that fosters artistic creation and making art
accessible to all generations.
Main Objectives are: to enhance cultural quality of life: improve local and national cultural
life by offering diverse, mostly free-of-charge events and educational programs.; foster
artistic production: support local and international artists through high-quality in-house
production in the printmaking studio and the dedicated residency program at MGLC
Švicarija; promote global exchange: maintain and elevate the heritage of the Ljubljana
Biennale of Graphic Arts, positioning Slovenian art within a global context and building
international artistic networks; drive social inclusion: expand and engage diverse
audiences, focusing primarily on children, youth, and vulnerable or marginalized groups
through participatory art initiatives; commit to sustainability: integrate eco-friendly,
sustainable solutions into cultural production while utilizing its unique location in Tivoli
Park to connect art with nature.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
As a prominent public museum and producer of contemporary visual arts based in Ljubljana, MGLC (International Centre of Graphic Arts) brings rich institutional expertise, international networks, and physical infrastructure (Grad Tivoli and Švicarija) to the Anna Lindh Foundation Slovenian National Network.
Possible contribution to the Network in Slovenia by: hosting intercultural mobilities and residencies: providing workspace, exhibition venues, and residency facilities for Euro-Mediterranean artists and cultural managers in collaboration with ALF members; offering expertise in visual arts and the Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts to develop joint exhibitions, workshops, and dialogue projects that promote Euro-Mediterranean cooperation; offering capacity-building sessions in cultural management, printmaking methodologies, and creative production to peer organizations in the Slovenian network; fostering dialogue on social inclusion, diversity, and artistic freedom among local communities.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
MGLC seeks to join the Anna Lindh Foundation Network to deepen our commitment to intercultural dialogue, international cooperation, and social inclusion through contemporary visual arts. As a public institution with a long tradition of international engagement—most notably through the Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts—we believe that art is a powerful bridge for Euro-Mediterranean understanding. Joining the ALF Network will allow us to: build new meaningful Euro-Med Partnerships, connect with diverse civil society entities, cultural centers, and change-makers across the region to foster long-term institutional and artistic collaborations, engage with initiatives like ALF in Motion and ALF Hands-On to host Mediterranean artists-in-residence at Švicarija and send Slovenian cultural practitioners to partner institutions across the region. We also seen an opportunity to co-create projects that address key contemporary challenges, such as diversity, freedom of expression, and heritage, aligning MGLC's mission with ALF's vision of inclusive and peaceful Euro-Mediterranean societies.
