The National Business Center - NBC (Qendra Kombëtare e Biznesit – QKB) is a central public institution of the Republic of Albania operating under the Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation. Established in 2015, NBC serves as a one-stop shop for business registration, licensing, authorisations, and permits. It manages the National Business Register and the National Register of Licenses, ensuring transparency and open public access to official data. By consolidating services and simplifying procedures, NBC improves the business climate and supports sustainable economic development.
Mission and Objectives
NBC’s mission is to facilitate entrepreneurship and economic growth in Albania by providing efficient, transparent, and accessible registration and licensing services. Its objectives are to enhance transparency, reduce bureaucratic barriers, strengthen public access to information, and promote regulatory reforms that support competitiveness and innovation among businesses. Through cross-border cooperation, NBC also contributes to regional economic integration and knowledge sharing.
Main Projects / Activities
NCB administers the National Business Register and the National Register of Licenses, Authorisations and Permits, providing open and reliable business data. It supports entrepreneurs through advisory services and contributes to policymaking for regulatory reforms. A flagship initiative was the EU-funded 3C4SME project (2018–2020), implemented with partners from Italy and Montenegro, which piloted innovative credit guarantee systems to improve SME access to finance and competitiveness. Through such projects, NBC advances entrepreneurship, transparency, and international cooperation.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
The National Business Center (NBC) can contribute to the ALF Network in Albania by sharing expertise in transparency, regulatory reforms, and entrepreneurship support. Through its role as administrator of the National Business Register and licensing systems, NBC promotes open access to information and inclusive business practices. The institution’s experience in EU-funded cross-border cooperation projects enables it to facilitate dialogue, exchange best practices, and strengthen collaboration between public institutions, civil society, and private actors for sustainable development.
