The entire student community of the University, whose Association/Nucleus is a member, is represented and enjoys benefits in most of our activities. Sources of funding - Our main sources of funding come from applications to the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ) and from occasional partners for events. Modalities of action - Over the years, ANEP has been involved in various activities and events aimed at empowering and informing the student community it represents about training paths related to teaching, internships, professional areas and research. In addition, it has sought to get involved in international projects through mobility projects with entities from other countries.
Mission and Objectives
In 1988, the Associação Nacional de Estudantes de Psicologia* (ANEP) was established, the highest representative body for psychology students and recent psychology graduates in the country. ANEP aims to give voice to the students and defend their values, with the ambition of representing and defending the interests of all its member Student Groups/Associations, reinforcing their indispensable role in this representation. To this end, psychology students from the different Higher Education Institutions that make up ANEP, build their objectives towards the development of a community. ANEP aims to actively listen to and involve the psychology student community throughout the country, to build partnerships and to strengthen synergies to create better conditions for the learning, integration, and development of those studying Psychology, to promote solutions and opportunities for them, to facilitate the improvement of training in Psychology, highlighting the need for complementary, integrated and continuous training. Thus, ANEP aims to evolve at the national and international level in the way it represents itself and its associated members. It is by honouring ANEP's values and mission, as a Federation of students for students, that we continue fostering communication and collaboration between (and with) the Associated Members (i.e., the Student Groups/Associations associated with ANEP), progressively contributing to the combination of the different perspectives, needs, and demands of the student community. Over the years, we have evolved into an association dedicated to empowering and supporting psychology students nationwide. We mainly focus on 3 goals: - Creating opportunities to improve students’ skills and to contribute to their personal and professional development, keeping in mind their interests and/or what is missing in the colleges’ curriculums. - Approaching relevant entities, such as governmental parties, national forums, ministries, etc., about the needs of college students and mental health in general. Working closely with the Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses (Portuguese Psychologists’ Association), the Conselho Nacional de Juventude (National Youth Council), and the Fórum Nacional de Estudantes de Saúde (National Forum of Health Students) to achieve better results and representation. - Creating impactful partnerships that support our mission and values and, by extension, the growth of psychology and its students. *National Association of Psychology Students
Main Projects / Activities
Our activities are designed to empower students and to give them skills to evolve in a personal and professional level, adding up to what is learnt in the classroom and giving them the opportunity to explore new topics, new roles and to discover the world outside of the college building. How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
As the National Psychology Students Association, we believe our perspective and reach can contribute to the Anna Lindh Foundation's missions. Currently, our national network allows us to connect with thousands of students, professionals, and associations across the country. Through our social media platforms and contacts with associate members, we are able to reach over 8,000 individuals, allowing us to amplify the potential impact of the Network’s projects, by sharing initiatives and engaging a broader audience in meaningful dialogue. We also have experience in organizing events that foster collaboration and knowledge exchange. With our network of contacts across different regions, we are able to facilitate events, workshops, and discussions aimed at addressing the Foundation’s key goals. Our contacts with professional trainers and experts in psychology enable us to facilitate training sessions that align with the Foundation’s mission. Moreover, we maintain close relationships with the forums that represent us and, as such, we are able to have closer contact with political decision-makers in order to raise concerns about matters that concern the student community, mainly in the field of mental health and psychology. This connection positions us to influence discussions around youth concerns, promote mental health awareness, and advocate for the student community's needs at a national policy level. Additionally, we also have close contact with the Portuguese Psychologists’ Association (Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses - OPP), Portuguese Society for Health Literacy (SPLS), Network of Psychological Support Services in Higher Education (RESAPES) - which allows us to reach different entities with various levels of responsibility in the public sphere.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
During this term, we are seeking to expand our relationships beyond the national level. We feel that we have already established a strong foundation in our partnerships with national associations and organizations. While we remain committed to strengthening and growing these connections, we believe that now is the right time for the National Psychology Students Association (ANEP) to also build cohesive international relationships and engage in a broader context. This will allow us to offer new learning and development opportunities to the students and community we represent. We believe that such international connections are essential for fostering high-quality opportunities and partnerships. Additionally, we have received positive feedback about the Anna Lindh Foundation, and for this reason, we would like to be part of this initiative and collaborate on future projects.
