General Information

Nya Kompisbyrån is a non-profit organisation striving to increase social inclusion and cohesion between new and established Swedes. We link people with common interests to meet digitally or over a coffee (in Swedish fika). Moreover, we organise mentor programmes to support foreign-born women in entering the labour market.

Our mission is to make integration easy and accessible for everyone. Over the years, we have matched over 46 000 people in Sweden and supported around 1 200 foreign born women in entering the labour market.

Our data shows that new Swedes feel significantly more welcome, have expanded their social network and increased their job opportunities after only one meeting with an established Swede. Moreover, almost all participants, both new and established Swedes, report that they have learnt something new about another culture.

Mission and Objectives

Nya Kompisbyrån believes in a society where people meet, talk and build relations. A society where social exclusion and xenophobia are replaced with a welcoming culture and social cohesion.

Our vision is to increase the sense of community in the society by enabling meetings between people with different backgrounds, experiences, and cultures.

Our meetings lead to improved Swedish language skills, larger social networks and increased chances to get a job.

Main Projects / Activities

Nya Kompisbyrån organises buddy programmes where we invite new and established Swedes to meet digitally or over a coffee, and offer mentor programmes for foreign-born women who seek support in entering the labour market.

Moreover, we regularly publish reports that address integration from different standpoints and foster dialogue with politicians in order to create support for our activities.
