Peacemakers Association is a non-profit youth civil association established in Egypt in 2014 under the advertising number 1517 by a group of Egyptian youth with the aim of spreading a culture of peace, tolerance and dialogue and strengthening social cohesion between the different people in general by forming groups, community resources and popular bases of capable peace makers To change concepts and practices in order to achieve a just and sustainable peace for the whole world to address the waves of violence and hate speech, by using the mechanisms of the human rights approach to development and advocacy mechanisms and to gain support to spread peace, tolerance and dialogue. They also have the ability to resolve individual and regional conflicts and have the culture necessary to intervene and resolve International conflicts, using scientific techniques and modern technology .
At Peacemakers, we believe in the importance of creating safe spaces for effective dialogue and cultural exchange and we use attractive, effective and purposeful change strategies such as art and sports for development, active learning, door-knocking campaigns, focal points, awareness booths and providing opportunities for youth and marginalized groups to participate in the change process Through community initiatives,
We attach special importance to empowering marginalized groups who are unable to access their rights, such as people with disabilities and women with all their issues.
The association has 800 volunteers and 7 members representing the board of directors, including 3 women. The association also has two headquarters to practice its work in Aswan and seeks to expand its activities in Alexandria Governorate. The association is also the head of the Specialized Union for Peace in Egypt, which includes about 35 civil society associations
Mission and Objectives
Youth and women are the main pillar in development, as the Peacemakers Association seeks to empower them to become societal peace ambassadors capable of spreading a culture of just peace and secure, joint and sustainable coexistence with humans and the surrounding environment by opening positive and effective channels of communication between the conflicting parties to address the violence that exists between them and Create a safe dialogue environment between all parties .
Our goals:
-To promote the values of tolerance and acceptance of others and to reject violence and discrimination in all its forms.
-To achieve active citizenship, belonging and national loyalty to all members of society.
-Institutional strengthening of formal institutions and civil society through capacity-building, youth skills development and provision of trained voluntary personnel, studies and reresearc.
-Disseminating a culture of human rights and developing citizens' awareness of them in order to affirm belonging, citizenship, collective action, tolerance and understanding.
-Providing individuals with negotiation, scientific thinking and mediation skills to resolve disputes and promote community peace.
-Promoting civic education concepts and behaviours and democratic practices that serve the concepts of partnership and citizenship.
-Creating space, providing opportunities for creativity, encouraging distinguished ideas, and rewarding innovation and development.
