General Information

The Political Studies Association of Ireland has no staff, and around 300 individual members from across the world. It represents researchers and postgraduate students with an interest in Irish politics, as well as members of the Irish political science community whatever their disciplinary specialize. The PSAI is funded primarily through an annual membership fee, though some additional income derives from its annual conference and from publications. The PSAI holds an annual conference each October; holds an annual postgraduate conference in the Spring; produces a monthly newsletter for members; produces a quarterly academic journal, Irish Political Studies; and has a number of specialist groups open to members who share a particular research interest.

Mission and Objectives

The aim of the Association is to promote the study of politics in and of Ireland. The Association is interested in politics, not simply in Irish politics. It represents the totality of politics as it is taught and researched in Ireland. To this end, the Association supports a number of specialist groups representing a range of disciplinary concerns. The PSAI exists to help bring together researchers interested in Irish politics and those teaching politics in Irish universities.
