Praxis is a well-established non-profit organisation based in Crete. We are dedicated to creating inclusive opportunities that bring local communities and people of diverse origins together through art. Since 2018, we have been fostering spaces where creativity, cultural exchange and social connection can flourish, ensuring accessibility and participation for all. We have built strong partnerships with local authorities and international artists, and we organise events and festivals, most of which continue year after year with great success.
Crete, as the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean, has historically been a crossroads of civilizations between Europe, Africa, and Asia. This unique position allows us to serve as a cultural bridge, highlighting shared heritage while nurturing new forms of collaboration and artistic expression.
Mission and Objectives
Promote cultural inclusion and showcase Mediterranean heritage
Create accessible spaces where people of diverse origins and local communities can connect, exchange, and collaborate. At the same time, highlight the richness of Mediterranean creativity by taking Cretan tradition a step forward by encouraging collaborations that bring local heritage into dialogue with Mediterranean and international artists and practices.
Celebrate local heritage through community-based festivals
Provide high-quality events and festivals rooted in local participation, featuring rich musical experiences, traditional activities, and a holistic showcase of Cretan produce and arts. These gatherings build communities of togetherness and are often held in exceptional locations, from historic villages far from tourist paths to legendary landmarks such as the Cave of Zeus and Mount Psiloritis, blending art with agriculture and everyday life and engaging participation.
Amplify Crete’s role as a cultural bridge through exchanges
Empower Crete as a vibrant meeting point of Europe, Africa, and Asia by facilitating cross-border exchanges and partnerships with artists. These initiatives nurture shared heritage, and generate new possibilities for learning, collaboration, and inclusive futures.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
Praxis can contribute to the Anna Lindh Foundation Network in Greece by sharing our experience in using art as a tool for dialogue, inclusion, and empowerment. Through our festivals, community-based events, and partnerships with local authorities and international artists, we have developed strong practices for engaging communities and creating accessible spaces for cultural participation.
Looking forward, our plan is to broaden the Mediterranean cultural dialogue from Crete outward by creating residency-style opportunities in small Cretan villages. Partners and artists will have the chance to immerse themselves in local life, collaborate with residents, and blend artistic creation with traditions such as agriculture, food, and music. This approach not only empowers cultural and artistic exchanges on deeper and more meaningful levels, but also supports sustainability by revitalising rural areas, fostering community resilience, and encouraging practices that respect both people and the environment.
