"Půlměsíc" organizes the Crescent Above Prague festival (Nad Prahou půlměsíc in Czech) which aims at exploring traditional and contemporary Middle Eastern cultures and developing cultural relations between the majority Czech society and Middle Eastern artists living in Europe. With its theatrical and literary focus, the festival is a unique event not only in the capital city, but also in the entire Czech Republic.
Mission and Objectives
Use cultural and artistic means to prove that dialogue between cultures that appear different at first glance is possible on the basis of mutual respect, understanding and cooperation.
Inspire Czech theater and other artists and offer a viable alternative to the prevailing Euro-American dramaturgy and culture.
Capture the attention of the younger generation in particular and develop their open-minded perception of the world and a new sensitivity towards foreigners, minorities and everything around us.
Main Projects / Activities
Theater performances, staged readings, happenings, literary cafés, concerts, film screenings, debates and workshops, with a special emphasis on drama, theater and literature in general.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
Open to all kinds of collaborations, we want to enrich the current theatrical and cultural events in Prague and the Czech Republic by bringing together local and international artists with Middle Eastern roots.
