SCALA Music & Sound Hub is a music development platform based in Larnaka, Cyprus. Working across artist and music infrastructure development, SCALA serves as a multifaceted hub supporting the growth, connectivity and internationalisation of Cyprus’ music ecosystem.
SCALA works with artists, bands, music promoters, venues, festivals, cultural organisations and other stakeholders, facilitating collaboration and knowledge exchange within Cyprus and with partners internationally. Its work combines artist development, information provision, research, communications, project development and advocacy.
Mission and Objectives
SCALA’s mission is to strengthen the foundations of Cyprus’ music ecosystem and create opportunities for greater creativity, collaboration, knowledge exchange and international engagement.
Its objectives are to support artists and music professionals in developing sustainable careers and accessing international opportunities; strengthen the capacity of music organisations and infrastructure; facilitate connections and co-creation between Cyprus and international music ecosystems; improve access to knowledge and information about the music industry; contribute to research and understanding of Cyprus’ music ecosystem; and advocate for the interests and development of the local music sector through dialogue and engagement with cultural stakeholders and policymakers.
Through its activities, SCALA also seeks to encourage intercultural dialogue, exchange and collaboration, recognising music as a means of connecting people, communities and cultural ecosystems across Cyprus, the Mediterranean and beyond.
Main Projects / Activities
SCALA Music & Sound Hub’s activities are centred around providing music information and knowledge, collaboration and mediating synergies, research of Cyprus' music ecosystem, and promoting the interests of Cyprus' music ecosystem in cultural policy.
SCALA provides mentoring and project support to artists, advising them on career development, release strategies, artistic identity and international opportunities. SCALA also develops communications, marketing, PR and social media strategies for artists and cultural organisations, using storytelling and content creation to strengthen the visibility and reach of artistic projects. Additionally, SCALA is involved in developing community projects and producing workshops to co-creating Europe-wide camps and peace-keeping initiatives. In 2024 SCALA supported the bicommunal residency Needle Festival & Residency for Larnaka 2030 European Capital of Culture and in 2024-2025 SCALA was cofounder of Live Incubator with SPOT Festival in Denmark, aiming to support a new generation of music industry project managers.
