Social Association of the Media Profession is an Egyptian non-governmental organization based in Alexandria. Founded in 2009, it holds consultative status with the United Nations.
The association works in the fields of media (print, radio, television, and new media), culture, environmental protection, peacebuilding, and the protection of women's and children's rights. It also works on issues related to people with disabilities and assists refugees. The association has numerous local and international partnerships, including the Specialized Union for Community Peace, the Specialized Union for Educational Policies and Research, and the Specialized Union for Youth. It is also a member of the Anna Lindh Foundation Board of Trustees, a member of the African Union Commission on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ECOSOCC), Erasmus+, Euro-Mediterranean Women, and the Norwegian Refugee Council. Furthermore, the association has partnerships and collaborations with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Alexandria University, the Ministry of Culture, and the Alexandria Governorate.
Mission and Objectives
Training a conscious generation of young people in positive thinking.
Training youth in various media arts.
Preparing youth for the job market through entrepreneurship and small businesses. Working to reduce unemployment through small businesses.
Promoting human rights, women's rights, and children's rights.
Establishing international partnerships among young people to exchange ideas, cultures, languages, and friendships.
Preserving our identity and the ethics of the great Islamic civilization.
Promoting a culture of peace and dialogue, rejecting violence, and upholding freedom of expression.
Instilling and developing a culture of positive participation, citizenship, and belonging.
Contributing, in partnership with others, to proposing solutions for an effective educational system.
Working to support a community environment that integrates people with disabilities.
Empowering women and youth economically, politically, and socially.
Training citizens in crafts, manual labor, and simple jobs.
Main Projects / Activities
• Future Leaders Project in cooperation with Internews Foundation and the Egyptian Ministry of Education to qualify youth for leadership and use media tools
• Partners Project in cooperation with Internews Foundation and civil society institutions to spread the idea of effective citizenship using media tools (press - radio - television - new media)
• Partners 2 Project in cooperation with Egyptian universities to spread the culture of effective citizenship
• Cooperation with Erasmus + in cultural exchange in many different projects in the countries of the North and South of the Mediterranean
• Cooperation with Euro med in projects between the association and associations in the North of the Mediterranean
• The association has presented many seminars and workshops to spread the culture of building and making peace
• The association has held many workshops and events to protect the environment and protect the beaches in Alexandria and the carbon footprint
• The association, in cooperation with the Egyptian Education Network, has organized many workshops on education issues and developing plans and recommendations
• The association has also cooperated in providing solutions, suggestions and research papers to the Arab Education Network
• The association helped establish the union Egyptian
• The association helped establish the Egyptian Federation for Community Peace
• Participation in submitting reports to the High Commissioner for Human Rights from 2010 until 2025 for the Universal Periodic Review of Egypt
• Training 50 social workers annually on mechanisms for dealing with students in schools and the Center for Supporting Persons with Disabilities and dealing with marginalized groups and working to integrate them into society
• Providing workshops for women to teach them crafts and professional professions
• Training young people and craftsmen on small projects
• Training young people on entrepreneurship
• Providing training guides for institutions to help them employ people with disabilities and integrate them into the labor market
• Working to qualify people with disabilities for the labor market
• Integrating people with disabilities into the university community in particular and society in general
