General Information

Sofia Live Festival was founded in 2020 with the mission to establish Sofia as a vibrant hub for international music and cultural exchange. Our objectives are to:

Present high-quality live music across genres, with a focus on contemporary and intercultural programming.

Strengthen cultural tourism in Sofia by connecting Bulgarian audiences with world-class international artists.

Provide a platform for emerging regional talents to share the stage with established global acts.

Develop sustainable and innovative models for live events, integrating digital solutions and green practices.

Mission and Objectives

Sofia Live Festival (annual): Three-day festival at Arena Sofia (Kolodrum), attracting more than 30,000 visitors each year. Lineups include global headliners such as James Bay, Michael Kiwanuka, Joss Stone, Fontaines D.C., alongside leading Bulgarian artists.

Sofia Live Club programming: Year-round live music in one of Bulgaria’s most iconic venues.

Community outreach: Free-entry concerts, children’s zones, and collaborations with schools and universities.

International collaborations: Member of YOUROPE and ESNS Exchange, nominating Bulgarian artists for the Music Moves Europe Awards and building bridges between Southeast Europe and the wider European cultural ecosystem.

Main Projects / Activities

Sofia Live Festival is the only Bulgarian festival with three consecutive nominations for the European Festival Awards. The festival is also part of the “Brand Bulgaria” initiative and contributes to Sofia’s long-term cultural strategy. Our work is rooted in innovation, sustainability, and inclusion, with a special focus on amplifying underrepresented voices from Southeast Europe.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We can contribute by providing a strong international platform for cultural dialogue through music, fostering collaborations between local and Euro-Mediterranean artists, and sharing expertise in festival management, audience development, and cultural tourism. As a member of YOUROPE and LiveDMA networks, we can also connect the Bulgarian ALF community with wider European industry stakeholders.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We want to join the ALF Network to strengthen our intercultural mission and connect Sofia’s music scene with the Euro-Mediterranean community. The values of ALF — dialogue, diversity, and inclusion — are at the heart of our festival’s vision. Through membership, we aim to contribute to joint initiatives, highlight Bulgaria’s role in the region, and support grassroots voices that deserve international visibility.
