General Information

Sophia Hiss recently completed her Master’s degree in International Affairs at the Hertie School in Berlin. Her academic focus lies in international humanitarian law, particularly asylum and migration law, as well as the politics and societies of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Prior to this, she studied Middle Eastern/Islamic Studies and Social Anthropology at the University of Freiburg. During her studies, she spent several years in Tunisia at the Université de Tunis El Manar, where she focused on International Relations and Social Anthropology.

Sophia gained professional experience, among others, at the Deutsche Welle Akademie, where she contributed to media development projects in Tunisia, Algeria, and Mauritania. In her free time, she writes for various magazines and is a passionate football player.
