Sosyal Atlas Youth Association is a registered, non-profit youth organisation based in Burdur, Türkiye. The Association develops volunteer-based projects, training programmes and community activities that strengthen young people’s participation, digital literacy, critical thinking, creative problem-solving and social responsibility.
The organisation works with young people, university communities, public institutions, municipalities, youth centres, educational institutions and civil society organisations. Its activities include non-formal education, project development, volunteering, cultural participation, environmental awareness, youth information, capacity building and local community engagement.
Sosyal Atlas Youth Association places young people at the centre of programme design and decision-making. Young participants are encouraged to take active roles as volunteers, trainers, project developers, local representatives and community organisers.
Mission and Objectives
The mission of Sosyal Atlas Youth Association is to empower young people to become active, informed and socially responsible individuals who contribute to their communities through participation, learning, volunteering and cooperation.
The Association aims to:
• strengthen youth participation in local, national and international decision-making processes;
• improve young people’s digital literacy, critical thinking and project development skills;
• increase access to non-formal education and intercultural learning opportunities;
• promote volunteering, solidarity, social inclusion and equal participation;
• support cooperation between young people, civil society organisations, educational institutions and local authorities;
• encourage environmental responsibility and sustainable community practices;
• create safe and inclusive spaces in which young people can develop, test and implement their ideas;
• contribute to intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
Main Projects / Activities
Sosyal Atlas Youth Association conducts youth capacity-building, project development, volunteering and community participation activities.
Its main activities include:
• project cycle management and international youth opportunities training;
• youth project competitions, mentoring and project development programmes;
• local representation and university youth community development;
• non-formal education programmes on digital literacy, critical thinking, social entrepreneurship and active citizenship;
• environmental awareness and community-based volunteering activities;
• cultural, artistic and intercultural events;
• dissemination of national and international youth opportunities;
• cooperation with youth centres, universities, municipalities, public institutions and civil society organisations;
• preparation of educational materials, application guides and youth information content;
• online and face-to-face workshops designed to strengthen the organisational and project management capacity of young people.
The Association also supports young volunteers in transforming local needs and social challenges into measurable and sustainable project ideas.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
Sosyal Atlas Youth Association can contribute to the ALF Network in Türkiye through its experience in youth participation, non-formal education, volunteering, project development and local community engagement.
The Association can disseminate ALF opportunities through its youth communication channels, university communities, local representatives and partner institutions. It can mobilise young people for intercultural activities, consultations, training programmes and public events.
We can contribute by organising local and national youth meetings, intercultural dialogue workshops, cultural activities and community-based volunteering programmes. We can also support the development of joint project proposals, provide local coordination in Burdur and neighbouring provinces, and share educational materials and good practices with other Network members.
Through our youth-led working model, we can help ensure that young people from smaller cities and rural communities are represented in national and Euro-Mediterranean dialogue processes. We are also willing to host online meetings, contribute speakers and facilitators, and actively participate in working groups and joint visibility activities.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
Sosyal Atlas Youth Association wants to join the Anna Lindh Foundation Network to develop sustainable cooperation with civil society organisations working on intercultural dialogue, youth participation, culture and social inclusion across Türkiye and the Euro-Mediterranean region.
Membership would enable our young volunteers and local communities to engage with different cultural perspectives, exchange practices and participate in international cooperation opportunities. It would also strengthen our institutional capacity to design inclusive and high-quality intercultural projects.
As an organisation based in a relatively small city, we believe that young people outside major metropolitan areas should have equal access to international dialogue, cultural exchange and civil society cooperation. We aim to bring the opportunities and values of the ALF Network to young people, educational institutions and local communities in Burdur and other provinces.
We also want to contribute actively to the Network by sharing our youth-led project experience, supporting joint initiatives and creating meaningful connections between local communities in Türkiye and the wider Mediterranean region.
