Sosyal Kumbara Association, founded in 2021 in Türkiye, is a civil society organization operating with a core team of 10 members and an active volunteer network of 50 people. The association carries out its activities through project-based funding, mainly supported by Erasmus+, Sivil Düşün, and international partnerships.
Our work is based on inclusive non-formal education and includes concrete actions such as international youth exchanges, training programs, awareness campaigns, and field-based initiatives. We bring together youth workers from regions such as Palestine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, and Azerbaijan, fostering intercultural dialogue and collaborative solutions.
We also contribute to human development processes through our activities in Tanzania, Indonesia, and Bangladesh. One of our key international outputs is an albinism-focused project bringing together 43 life stories from 27 countries.
Our main partners include NGOs, public institutions, universities, and international networks.
Mission and Objectives
The mission of Sosyal Kumbara Association is to contribute to the development of an inclusive, fair, and sustainable society through the accumulation of people, ideas, and experiences. The organization aims to support the equal participation of young people, individuals with disabilities, and disadvantaged groups in social life.
Our objectives include strengthening intercultural dialogue, enhancing individual capacities through non-formal education, raising social awareness, and contributing to human development processes. We also prioritize bringing together individuals from different regions to promote mutual learning and solidarity, making invisible stories visible, and developing projects that create meaningful and sustainable social impact.
Main Projects / Activities
Sosyal Kumbara Association develops and implements projects that create impact at both local and international levels. Through our youth-focused international activities, we bring together youth workers from war- and crisis-affected regions, fostering experience sharing, capacity building, and intercultural dialogue.
Our “Label Literacy Education” project focuses on increasing consumer awareness among young people through trainings and digital content. In addition, through initiatives such as “Dream Bank” and “Dream Room,” we create creative and participatory spaces that support children and young people in expressing themselves, building confidence, and engaging in social life.
In the field of albinism, we have implemented multiple international projects aimed at raising awareness and promoting inclusion. Notably, our “Look at the Sun” project and related initiatives focus on making the lived experiences of individuals with albinism more visible and strengthening social understanding.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
Sosyal Kumbara Association can contribute to the Network by strengthening connections between local communities in Türkiye and international partners through inclusive and impactful activities. With our experience in youth work, non-formal education, and intercultural dialogue, we can organize trainings, workshops, and community-based projects that bring together diverse groups, especially young people and individuals with fewer opportunities.
We actively work with NGOs, public institutions, and universities, which enables us to expand the Network’s visibility and outreach at the national level. Additionally, we can support the dissemination of the Network’s values through digital platforms, awareness campaigns, and storytelling-based initiatives.
By sharing our experience in human development, inclusion, and field-based practices across different countries, we aim to contribute to knowledge exchange, collaborative project development, and stronger regional cooperation within the Network.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
We want to join the ALF Network to strengthen our impact in the field of intercultural dialogue and to become part of a collaborative platform that brings together diverse perspectives across the Euro-Mediterranean region. As an organization working with young people, disadvantaged groups, and international partners, we see strong alignment between our mission and the Network’s values.
Joining the Network will allow us to exchange knowledge, share our field experiences, and co-create meaningful projects with like-minded organizations. We are particularly interested in contributing to initiatives that promote inclusion, mutual understanding, and human development across different cultures.
We also believe that being part of the ALF Network will enhance our capacity to reach wider audiences, build sustainable partnerships, and amplify the voices of communities we work with, especially those whose stories are often unheard.
