The organisation sparta.komvos is an independent, non-profit organization based in Sparta, Greece. We are inspired by the principles of inclusion and equality, sustainable development and resilience, and promote actions that respect diversity and enhance harmonious coexistence between generations, cultures, and between humans and nature. We believe that knowledge, cooperation and solidarity are the foundations for a better future, both locally and globally.
Mission and Objectives
Our mission & objectives are to:
Strengthen the local community in Sparta and the whole Peloponnese through educational, cultural and social initiatives, aiming at information, education and improve the quality of life.
Promote internationally the values of Sparta as a global symbol of equality, social solidarity and good governance.
Main Projects / Activities
We develop programmes for local society, including youth, women and vulnerable groups, promoting social and economic inclusion. At the same time, we organise events, cooperate with institutions, public & private entities and support actions that contribute to sustainable development and strengthen the local economy.
Through scientific and research initiatives, cooperation programmes and international networking, we seek to highlight Sparta not only as a historical heritage, but also as a source of contemporary inspiration on issues of human rights, peace and sustainable development.
With Sparta as a reference point, we are active through local, regional, national and international networks, for mutual information, exchange of knowledge and experience, planning and implementation of joint initiatives and actions.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
At sparta.komvos, we can contribute to the Anna Lindh Foundation’s national network in Greece by connecting rural and underrepresented communities—particularly from the Peloponnese —to broader intercultural and civic dialogue. Our organisation specialises in inclusive, participatory programmes that engage youth, women, educators, and local changemakers in areas such as sustainable development, social entrepreneurship, and cultural heritage. Among other skills, we bring a strong capacity for grassroots mobilisation, project coordination, and community storytelling, which can enrich the network’s diversity and territorial outreach. Furthermore, we are committed to co-developing initiatives, hosting events, and facilitating exchanges that promote ALF’s values, especially in areas that are often excluded from international opportunities.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
At sparta.komvos, we are eager to join the Anna Lindh Foundation network as we deeply resonate with its mission to foster intercultural dialogue, inclusion, and regional cooperation. Based in Southern Greece, our work focuses on empowering communities, promoting diversity, and strengthening social cohesion through participatory and educational initiatives. We believe that by becoming part of this vibrant Euro-Mediterranean network, we can both contribute our grassroots experience and innovative practices, and benefit from the exchange of ideas, partnerships, and collective action that ALF so effectively cultivates.
