Studio Madane is an ecosystem focused organization operating between Barcelona and Beirut. It functions through seven youth led Working Groups and a network of more than 250 alumni, who contribute as collaborators, researchers, facilitators, and project partners. The organization works with a lean core team and relies on partnerships with local collectives, civil society actors, researchers, and cultural practitioners across the Euro Mediterranean region.
With annual resources of approximately 15,000 EUR, Studio Madane implements small scale, high impact initiatives including thematic studios, think tanks, workshops, research activities, public events, and educational programs. Its work connects culture, urbanism, technology, and civic engagement.
Main partners vary by project and include grassroots organizations, universities, independent cultural spaces, youth groups, and regional networks active in social innovation and community development.
Mission and Objectives
Studio Madane’s mission is to develop regenerative initiatives and ventures that respond to social, environmental, and civic challenges in the Euro Mediterranean region. It supports youth led collaboration across sectors such as culture, urban development, technology, and social innovation. Its objectives are to foster cross regional cooperation, strengthen grassroots capacities, promote knowledge exchange through research and learning formats, and incubate projects that create long term social and ecological value.
Main Projects / Activities
We launched a portfolio of ventures (check the attached logbook) including the
- Social Entrepreneurship Lab with an evolving 'regenerative business' curriculum (https://studiomadane.com/the-social-entrepreneurship-lab)
- Urban Injections, a tactical urbanism and stakeholder engagement architecture & urbanism program (https://studiomadane.com/urban-injections)
- Bazaarna, a multi-award immersive CCI startup (www.bazaarna.world); and
- the Collective Identity Project, a youth-led identity politics research program (https://studiomadane.com/collective-identity-project)
These initiatives secured multiple regional recognitions, partnerships, and pilots across diverse contexts.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
Studio Madane (SM) can open trans Mediterranean collaboration channels because it already operates from Barcelona to Beirut, meaning it can connect local actors with peers facing similar social, cultural, and urban challenges, leading to cross border cocreation.
Speaking of co-creation, Studio Madane's ecosystemic approach and methodological know how ensures that initiatives and projects go beyond their 'lifecycles', avoiding symbolic exchanges, and dwelling more on results that live long. In the same token, SM can help the ALF network remain rooted in reality. By staying close to communities and practitioners, SM can feed bottom up perspectives into regional conversations that are often dominated by institutions rather than lived experience.
Studio Madane, at the level of networks, can strengthen the ALF network in Lebanon even more by acting as a bridge between grassroots actors, cultural practitioners, shared funding and employment, and cross-sector initiatives considering it's multisector involvement. Its experience allows it to transfer tested methods, formats, and partnerships that are often missing at the local level.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
Coming out of the YCSLP 2026 bootcamp in Limassol, I realized that ALF and SM share a strong complementary interest in grassroots engagement across the Mediterranean, which differs from the more top down focus of many other regional organizations. SM’s presence across the region, from Barcelona to Beirut, spanning both the northern and southern Mediterranean, positions it well for practical cross regional collaboration. We anticipate real real opportunities and productive partnerhips within the network.
