General Information

Svenska Kyrkans Unga Göteborgs distrikt is part of Svenska Kyrkans Unga (Church of Sweden youth), which is an open community of young people who want to discover and share Christian faith. The Young Church of Sweden is a democratic movement of children and young people in the Church of Sweden.  The Young Church of Sweden in Gothenburg is one of 13 districts. We are about 900 members in 35 local chapters from Strömstad in the north to Laholm in the south. The district's highest decision-making body is the annual district meeting, which decides on the budget and operational plan and appoints the district board, which in turn makes ongoing decisions during the year. On a day-to-day basis, there are also staff who work to support, plan and implement activities. The whole organisation is based on three levels: - lokalavdelningar (local groups often corresponding to parishes), - distrikt (districts corresponding to the Church of Sweden episcopates), and - förbund (national). All members belong to lokalavdelningar with their own activities and operations. Membership is free of charge and non-denominational Svenska Kyrkans Unga Göteborgs distrikt geographically covers the Swedish west coast with base in Gothenburg.
