TAMA is a women-led Voluntary Organisation based in Malta, founded by a dynamic and diverse group of individuals who are united by shared lived experiences. Our team reflects the rich multiculturalism of Malta, bringing together voices from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and perspectives. This diversity is our strength, enabling us to approach challenges with empathy and deep understanding. At our core, we are driven by a commitment to amplify marginalized voices and create spaces where everyone feels heard, supported, and empowered.
At TAMA, we specialize in supporting diaspora communities in Malta, particularly those affected by gender-based violence (GBV) and other forms of systemic inequality. We have been at the forefront of crucial campaigns, tackling issues such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), advocating for disability rights for foreigners, and addressing barriers faced by migrants and refugees. Through outreach, advocacy, and community-centered programs, we aim to break down societal and institutional barriers, ensuring that the most vulnerable have access to the resources, safety, and opportunities they need to thrive
Main Projects / Activities
Bridging borders - As part of the 24-month Bridging Borders project, designed to engage young EU citizens and residents aged 16 to 30 in a comprehensive awareness campaign emphasizing EU solidarity in combating polarization and fragmentation, TAMA is proud to announce that we will host a two-day event in Malta by May 2025 (date to be confirmed). This event will focus on addressing gender-based violence (GBV) within the context of migration, utilizing art, discussions, and other interactive methods to foster understanding and promote social inclusion. Our initiative aligns with Bridging Borders' mission to highlight the importance of EU solidarity in combating polarization and fragmentation, ultimately promoting a more cohesive and engaged community.
