General Information

NPSPD is an organisation in Malta which caters for the needs of people with disability and their families, and organises a number of activities throughout the year. It is also a leader in bringing forth disability issues to the public domain and engages in discussion with all parties who have at heart the interests of people with disability.

Mission and Objectives

Our mission and aims are to work in collaboration with anyone who is truly committed to work in the best interest of the person with disability and their families.

to offer support as from birth to children with disability into adulthood.

to offer assistance and support to parents of children with disability and to educate and help them overcome the difficulties that arise from the situation of their child’s disability.

to organise and carry out those functions and activities which it believes are necessary to fulfill aims above, and to serve as a unifying force for all those who have the welfare of people with disability at heart.

to facilitate relations between people with disability, their parents, the authorities and professionals in the sector.
Among its aims, the NPSPD strives to be:

a think tank on disability issues

a pressure group

a mover for change, and

a promoter for inclusion at all levels

In its overall approach, inspiration and actions, the NPSPD:

believes in the right to life

believes in equal opportunities for all

adheres to the social model over the medical model

considers education and training at all levels to persons with disability as priorities promotes and monitors accessibility.

Main Projects / Activities

Parents workshops to learn to self-advocate for their needs as parents of children with disability.
We organise weekend breaks, get-togethers, and movie screenings.
Supporting families through peer-to-peer help.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

We are the national parents organisation that supports parents of persons with disability in Malta, and we would like to collaborate with other NGOs to support our members, especially those from ethnically diverse populations.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We would like to join the ALF Network to further the advocacy efforts of the National Parents Society of Persons with Disability Malta. By connecting with like-minded individuals and organizations, We aim to share experiences, collaborate on initiatives, and contribute to the broader movement for disability rights and inclusion. The network offers an invaluable opportunity to expand our reach, influence policy, and foster a more supportive environment for families and individuals with disabilities
