ArtsGeneral Information
the Theatre of the Oppressed Casablanca was created in 2012 by artists and activists under the direction of Hosni ALMOUKHLIS. Since its inception, it has had a unique and primary mission: to bring art out of elitist salons and into public, accessible spaces. Our vision has been clear—focusing on marginalized and vulnerable populations.
Mission and Objectives
the Theatre of the Oppressed Casablanca has played a very important role in making forum theatre known and accessible to the Moroccan public in general, and especially to the Casablanca audience. In fact, we work with various techniques of the theatre of the oppressed, namely image theatre, legislative theatre, and others.
Main Projects / Activities
Over the years, up to the present day, the Theatre of the Oppressed Casablanca has paved an interesting path regarding the theatre of the oppressed. We have worked on projects addressing frequent and taboo social themes with various partners such as OXFAM, the EU, and others.
Notably, the Theatre of the Oppressed Casablanca has highlighted real and sensitive social issues through its projects with different partners, mentioning in this context: the issue of immigration, freedom of expression, and women's rights.
