Association of the Most Sensitive in Training – UNUO is a Croatian non-profit organisation dedicated to the vocational education, social inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities and young people with fewer opportunities. Through gastronomy, hospitality, practical training and international cooperation, UNUO creates opportunities for people who are often excluded from education, employment and public life to demonstrate their abilities, develop professional and social skills and participate actively in their communities.
Mission and Objectives
Our mission is to create an inclusive society in which persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups are recognised for their abilities rather than defined by their limitations.
UNUO develops innovative educational and community-based programmes that combine vocational skills, gastronomy, tourism, social inclusion and intercultural cooperation.
Our main objectives are to:
improve access to practical and vocational education for persons with disabilities and young people with fewer opportunities;
strengthen their employability, independence and participation in community life;
promote inclusive and socially responsible practices among employers and local communities;
use gastronomy and hospitality as universal tools for communication and intercultural dialogue;
develop sustainable international partnerships and transferable models of social inclusion.
Main Projects / Activities
UNUO organises vocational and culinary workshops, practical training, community events, educational programmes for young people and persons with disabilities, activities for employers and professionals, and international projects promoting inclusion through gastronomy.
One of our key international initiatives is CUPI’S SPOON®, an international gastronomic competition for persons with disabilities. The programme provides participants with an opportunity to publicly demonstrate their culinary and hospitality skills, gain confidence, meet peers from different countries and increase their visibility in society and on the labour market.
UNUO also develops educational programmes focused on independent living skills, hospitality, tourism, social skills and community participation.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
UNUO can contribute its practical experience in social inclusion, vocational education, disability, youth work and international cooperation. We can share innovative methodologies that use gastronomy and hospitality as tools for inclusion and intercultural dialogue, organise inclusive community activities and international events, connect the Network with our partners and local stakeholders, and participate in the development of transferable models that empower vulnerable groups to become active members of their communities.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
UNUO wants to join the ALF Network to strengthen Euro-Mediterranean cooperation in the fields of social inclusion, youth, disability, education and community development. We want to exchange knowledge and good practices, develop joint initiatives with organisations from other countries, and contribute our experience in using gastronomy and hospitality as practical tools for inclusion, intercultural dialogue and empowerment. We also see the Network as an opportunity to build long-term partnerships and develop transferable models that can be implemented in different local communities.
