In 2023, after 10 years of experience, VisMed has revisited its social mission and built its vision for the Mediterranean for a cultural, economic, social, and political environment that functions for the wellbeing of all citizens. The region faces its own challenges that, though not exclusive to it, reflect its distant past and recent historical developments. Waves of turbulence over recent decades have left their mark on many people, some with stories to tell and others with scars to heal. Experience has taught us that the cultural milieu of the region is an exciting avenue for peace and better economic and social development, provided that all players pull their weight and raise their awareness of the need for the rule of law and respect for social justice and social equity. We are committed to being part of the effort for a better future for the Mediterranean and its people.Main Projects / Activities
Over the years VisMed Association has become a household name in innovation in youth, education and career development. It has also widened its scope to social wellbeing in our living spaces and higher awareness of democratic values. This expertise was built and has contributed to several projects at a local, regional and European level with valuable partners at times as leader and as partner in others therefore carrying responsibilities in various areas such as concept development, management, sustainability strategies and content design. In the last years it has delivered European projects on youth engagement in social media public education on sensitive topics of discussion like migration, human rights and democracy. It has built social media campaigns that have brought to the public knowledge and awareness of the terms of migration, narratives of migrants’ dangerous voyages from the Sub Sahara to Europe, media literacy and critical voting, more and better participation in democracy through higher social justice and socio emotional literacy. How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
We wish to bring into our local network our major resource which is a long life of experience and a wide ranging spectrum of views of our members and of the networks we already form part of. We would like to have the opportunity to learn from the experience of other members of the network in their experience with Mediterranean exchange and dialogue. Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
VisMed shares the philosophy of Anna Lindh Foundation in the use of dialogue and exchange between teachers and students, between youth leaders and youths. We believe we have an EU wide contribution of experience to dialogue in the Mediterranean and we possess the necessary in-house know how in project management and concepts development in the area. We wish to increase our network with present members of Anna Lindh Foundation because we can see that this will give us the opportunity to speak with the right interlocutors about issues like immigration, changes in social texture and democracy that are very much an issue at the moment all around the Mediterranean basin.
