General Information

WAVES Foundation for Global Education is an NGO governed by a three-member Board consisting of the President, Treasurer, and Secretary. The organisation works with two contracted associates and a broad network of external collaborators. WAVES focuses primarily on EU-funded programmes, actively submitting and participating in numerous project proposals. It is currently implementing three EU projects in the areas of media literacy, gender, and global education. Alongside its project work, WAVES provides workshops and activities for educators and prioritises building strong synergies with local stakeholders to enhance the impact and sustainability of its initiatives.

Mission and Objectives

Our mission is to improve the patterns of learning and skills development towards inclusive societies with active global citizens where hate, discrimination and inequalities have been eliminated with common efforts.
Our objectives are to:
A) see communities locally and globally where people, especially youth and women, are empowered and encouraged to take active part towards positive change, who live in peace, respect others, take care of themselves and the environments around them.
B) work towards the development of globally competent people who can appreciate different cultures, have empathy and respect, embrace other perspectives and be successful and responsible global citizens.
C) support individuals and communities develop a sense of self and appreciation of cultural diversity, affirmation of social justice and women’s rights, as well as building peace and actions for a sustainable future in different times and places.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

WAVES can play an active and strategic role within the ALF network in Cyprus by inviting network partners to participate in EU project proposals, thereby fostering collaborative opportunities. The organisation can also offer tailored training sessions to partners and their extended networks, enhancing their skills and capacity for impactful project implementation. Additionally, WAVES can coordinate and facilitate networking activities, creating spaces for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and the development of joint initiatives that strengthen the overall cohesion and effectiveness of the ALF network.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

WAVES seeks to join the ALF network to strengthen its collaboration with like-minded organisations in Cyprus and beyond, enhancing its capacity to implement impactful EU projects. By becoming part of the network, WAVES aims to exchange knowledge, best practices, and innovative approaches in areas such as media literacy, gender, and global education. Membership in ALF will also enable WAVES to create synergies with local partners, offer targeted trainings, and foster collaborative initiatives, ultimately amplifying its contribution to education, civic engagement, and social inclusion in the region.
