General Information

Wings of Hope Germany is a non-profit foundation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria based in Munich, Nuremberg and Ruhpolding. We work in Germany and together with partner organizations in Brazil, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kurdistan-Iraq, Palestine and Israel, Ukraine and Central America. We currently employ seven staff in Germany. Our annual budget amounts to about 1 Mio. EUR.

Mission and Objectives

Healing Trauma, Building Peace, Living Reconciliation. This triad describes the vision we strive for.
We support people who are suffering from the consequences of war and violence through: (1) Trauma trainings in Germany and abroad for people in helping professions. (2) Peace building and dialogue activities with youth and young adults. (3) Trauma therapy and counseling and (4) Raising public awareness of the issue of violence and its social impact.

Main Projects / Activities

Traumatic experiences have an impact not only at the individual level, but often at the collective level as well. Collective traumas are passed on to the next generation through narratives and values, and can contribute to the emergence or perpetuation of conflict. This is why we support young people in their commitment to peace and dialogue. Our main projects in this field include: youth networks in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kurdistan-Iraq and Palestine and Israel. Every summer, we invite five youth from each group and from Germany to participate in the Summer Academy for Intercultural Dialogue, a two-week exchange program in the Bavarian Alps. The young women and men aged 18-26 learn from and with each other how to live together in diversity and how to remain in dialogue despite all differences.

How can you contribute to the Network in your country?

Wings of Hope Germany offers unique expertise on the connection between trauma, reconciliation, and sustainable peace. We bring practical experience from working with individuals and communities affected by war and violence, and we support dialogue initiatives that address collective trauma as a root cause of conflict. Through this lens, we aim to enrich the Network’s peacebuilding efforts in Germany and across the Euro-Mediterranean region.

Why do you want to join the ALF Network?

We believe in the power of dialogue and shared learning to build peace. Joining the ALF Network would allow us to connect with like-minded organizations, amplify our impact, and contribute to a common vision of reconciliation, diversity, and intercultural understanding across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
