Mission and Objectives
The primary aim of YOUth Connect is to create meaningful connections between young people, encouraging the sharing of skills and knowledge to promote both personal and community growth. Through inclusive and collaborative approaches, YOUth Connect aims to empower young individuals to become active, informed, and resilient members of society.
The organisation’s name reflects its core pillars:
-YOU: Our commitment to empowering individuals to achieve personal and professional goals.
-CONNECT: Building bridges between youth and local or international organisations, fostering collaboration and solidarity.
-YOUth: emphasizes that the association is created by young people and for young people, with a specific focus on youth-driven initiatives.
To achieve these goals, YC aims to achieve different objectives:
Equip Young People with Career and Life Skills:
YC is committed to developing the competencies and soft skills necessary for young people to identify career goals, make informed choices, and successfully enter the workforce.
Promote Personal Expression through Non-Formal Artistic Tools:
YC offers programs that encourage personal expression and empathy through non-formal artistic methods, including dance, theater, and other creative forms. These tools enable young people to develop self-awareness, strengthen empathic communication abilities, and foster emotional resilience, and these enhance their capacity for social and community engagement.
Develop Essential Digital Life Skills for Empathy and Responsible Online Interaction:
YC aims to equip young people with key competencies to navigate digital spaces safely and responsibly. We empower participants to develop digital empathy, make informed decisions, and engage thoughtfully in virtual interactions. This objective underscores our commitment to building a generation of young people who are not only digitally skilled but also respectful and proactive members of online communities.
Advance Social Inclusion through Intercultural Dialogue:
YOUth Connect actively promotes social inclusion by providing opportunities for intercultural exchange. Through dialogue and collaborative activities, we bring together young people from diverse backgrounds, encouraging mutual understanding, respect for cultural differences, and the cultivation of an inclusive, cohesive community.
Foster Environmental Responsibility and Sustainability Awareness:
Recognizing the critical importance of environmental sustainability, YOUth Connect engages young people in activities that highlight the need for sustainable lifestyles. We educate and involve participants in initiatives that promote environmental responsibility, empowering them to contribute positively to their communities and support global sustainability efforts.
Support the Development of Active and Responsible Citizenship Skills:
YOUth Connect prepares young people to become proactive citizens by providing tools and knowledge that enable them to understand and engage with societal challenges. Through civic education, we help young people build critical thinking skills and social responsibility, supporting their contributions to meaningful community change.
Encourage Social Entrepreneurship and Leadership among Youth:
YOUth Connect fosters a spirit of entrepreneurship and leadership by equipping young people with the skills and support to create social initiatives. Our activities encourage participants to identify local needs, design impactful projects, and take on leadership roles, promoting their development as changemakers within their communities.
Main Projects / Activities
YOUth Connect organizes a series of activities to promote the personal and professional growth of young people, including:
- Local and virtual workshops;
- Local and international networking events;
- Internships;
- International exchanges;
- Training courses;
- Volunteering activities;
- International meetings for sharing practices.
The main lines of activity are:
1. CAREER GUIDANCE: Activities aimed at guiding young people in identifying their career goals. In line with the goal of providing young people with the skills needed to identify their career goals and enter the world of work, YC organizes meetings in collaboration with local high schools, involving young people up to 19 years old, and activities involving young adults between the ages of 24 and 30. It has also coordinated, among the international projects, the KA210 “CAREer” project, aimed at creating a tool to support young adults in recognizing their career goals. Among the international activities, YC coordinates the “CRAFTED” Youth Exchange, aimed at exploring artisan professions.
2. EXPRESSION AND COMMUNICATION: Activities that offer young people accessible and creative tools to express their ideas and contribute meaningfully to the community. In line with the goal of promoting personal expression through non-formal tools, such as dance and theater, which combine verbal and paraverbal language, YC organizes local activities involving young migrants, many of whom do not speak Italian or English, in collaboration with local cultural associations. YC has also coordinated the local solidarity project “TOgather - together with Turin”, and the international Youth Exchange “TOgather worldwide”, aiming at the involvement of intercultural youth, and local workshops on empathic communication addressed to local students in cooperation with local high schools. Among the international activities in line with this goal, YC has organized the Youth Exchange “Follow your Sound” and the international training courses “Mind your Body, Embody your Mind” and “Harmony within”, which present music and body movement as expressive tools. The use of these non-formal methods also plays a crucial role in supporting the psychophysical well-being of young people. By engaging in creative and physical activities, participants are able to reduce stress, build emotional resilience, and develop a deeper sense of self-awareness. These benefits contribute significantly to their overall mental health, fostering a sense of balance and empowerment that extends into other areas of their lives.
3. DIGITAL SKILLS: YC recognizes that in today’s interconnected world a comprehensive suite of digital skills are essential for thriving. This includes competencies such as media literacy to critically analyze online content, cybersecurity awareness to protect against digital threats, and effective and empathic communication to engage meaningfully in virtual spaces. By cultivating these abilities, YC equips young people not only to navigate digital environments safely but also to leverage technology as a powerful tool for innovation, collaboration, and personal growth. YC organizes the International Chit-Chats, actions aimed at connecting young people and experts online in line with the Youth Goals. Among international activities, YC has organized in the past the Youth Exchange “Add to Contact”, which proposes the exploration of the differences between physical and virtual connections, and is a partner of the KA220 “Digital Life Skills”, which proposes the growth of young people’s soft skills on a digital scale. In addition, in the past, YC has involved its target groups in the ANG in Radio_Youth in Radio project, promoting the connection and participation of young people on a digital level with the web radio tool.
4. ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY: The initiatives in line with the environmental field started in 2019, when YC organised a local project on the agri-food sustainability in a local farm, where the participants have been encouraged to have a sustainable lifestyle (https://youth-connect.com/think-glocal-act-sustainable/). Additionally, YOUth Connect participated to the online campaign organised by ASviS (Alleanza Italiana per lo Sviluppo Sostenibile) on occasion to the festival of sustainable development, producing a video related to the topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GNQlzs5LQI&feature=share . Specifically, the video talks about an international youth exchange ideated and planned by the members of YC, in cooperation with international youth: the current situation of our planet and the urgency to be changemakers, has led the association to be a promoter of initiatives and sustainable collaborations. In 2021, YC was the coordinator of the project “From Waster To Master”, promoted by the association “ALDA” and aimed at the reduction of food waste and the promotion of healthy nutrition. Since 2024, YC is the coordinator of the local solidarity ESC project “Let’s play at change!”, aiming at raising the awareness of young people on environmental sustainability through gamification, and specifically through the creation of a board game.
Furthermore, YOUth Connect presents itself as a guiding association for all young people who wish to transform their ideas of youth involvement into concrete actions, offering support and guidance for the development of shared projects.
How can you contribute to the Network in your country?
YOUth Connect can contribute to the ALF Network in Italy by:
1. Promoting Intercultural Dialogue: we specialize in creating inclusive spaces where young people from diverse backgrounds can interact and share experiences. Through non formal education methods, empathy-based workshops and chit chats, we facilitate mutual understanding and cultural exchange.
2. Fostering Youth Participation: we strongly believe in the importance of youth action in shaping a more just and fair society, which is why we support and actively engage young people in addressing societal challenges. These initiatives align with ALF's mission to empower youth as agents of change.
3. Sharing Best Practices: we can offer our experience in fostering empathetic communication as a cornerstone for inclusion. Our methodologies focus on creating meaningful dialogue, building mutual understanding, and addressing challenges such as prejudice, exclusion, and conflict. By sharing tools and practices that promote empathetic listening and expression, we can contribute to creating inclusive and accessible activities.
Why do you want to join the ALF Network?
We’ve been inspired by the mission of the Anna Lindh Foundation to promote intercultural dialogue and strengthen connections across the Euro-Mediterranean region. These values deeply resonate with our work at YOUth Connect, where we focus on inclusion, empathetic communication, and empowering young people to become active changemakers in their communities.
One of our partners, Med Baltic, recommended that we join the network, highlighting how impactful it has been for their own projects and how much we could benefit from it. They emphasized the value of the network in bringing together organizations with shared goals and different strengths.
We are deeply aware that creating meaningful societal impact requires cooperation between diverse actors. Being part of the ALF Network would allow us to connect with like-minded organizations, share experiences, and build partnerships that strengthen our collective ability to address challenges like inclusion, sustainability, and cultural understanding.
By joining, we hope to:
1. Learn from others and exchange best practices to improve our work;
2. Collaborate on projects that amplify the voices of youth and promote intercultural dialogue;
3. Strengthen our impact by working alongside other organizations that share a vision of a more inclusive, peaceful and connected society.
We believe that being part of the ALF Network would help us grow as an organization while contributing to the shared mission of creating positive change across the region.
