CHALLENGING INEQUALITIES

This programme aims to empower community-based organisations (CBOs) in the southern Mediterranean countries of Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia to become local agents of social change. The programme selects CBOs committed to addressing inequalities that are taking place in their local communities in an innovative way, focusing on thematic priorities related to youth, gender equality, green transition, environment and water, or employment.

The ALF provides both technical and financial support envisaged through five distinct phases:

  1. Selection: Identifying CBOs that will receive tailored interventions and capacity-building to tackle social inclusion and inequalities.
  2. Training: Offering enriching face-to-face enhancing capacities sessions that facilitate in-depth discussions with peer beneficiary organisations on practical implementation and methods for measuring impact.
  3. Financial Support: Selected organisations are awarded €10,000 to develop the proposed community-based action plans, bringing their ideas to life.
  4. Peer Networking: Building a community of local development leaders who collaborate and share solutions across the region, applying a Euro-Mediterranean perspective to strengthen their impact.
  5. Knowledge Sharing: CBOs will produce a practical guide that documents the knowledge, methodologies and lessons learned throughout the process, serving as a valuable reference tool for future implementations of community-based actions.
