ALF CIVIL SOCIETY NETWORK

United by a shared vision, enriched by its diversity

At the heart of the ALF’s structure lies a dynamic force, symbolised by the 43 pebbles in our logo. Each pebble represents a unique voice and perspective, all connected in a shared space. This visual reflects the ALF’s Networks of over 4,500 members, making it the largest civil society network in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

What does the ALF’s Network consist of?

Our Network spans a wide range of entities, from civil society organisations,  academic institutions, think tanks, media outlets, social enterprises, cultural entities, governmental bodies and grassroots initiatives. Our Network members come from various sectors and regions across the Euro-Mediterranean including intercultural relations, heritage, religion, research, human rights, democracy and community development, arts, youth and education, gender, environment and sustainable development, and media, providing a unique platform for cross-cultural exchange and cooperation, creating a community united by a shared vision, enriched by its diversity.

Who leads and coordinates the Network in each country?

Each country’s network is led by a Head of Network, who guides and mobilises its members at the national level. Heads of Networks (HoNs) serve as the primary link between grassroots organisations and the broader ALF framework. Every HoN implements activities that align with the Foundation’s mission and goals, promoting collaboration between members and facilitating knowledge exchange. In addition to their coordination efforts, Heads actively seek out key opportunities for collaboration within their own network and other networks. HoNs are also responsible for advocating for their members, ensuring that the grassroots voices are heard at the institutional levels.

What are the benefits of joining the ALF’s Network?

By joining the ALF Network, you gain access to a variety of exclusive opportunities and resources. Members receive priority access to open calls, programmes tailored specifically for them, and opportunities to engage in initiatives across the Euro-Mediterranean region. Our programmes empower you to produce and share knowledge, implement grassroots initiatives, and engage in activities that foster collaboration. The Network connects you with like-minded peers, promoting cross-cultural exchange and cooperation, allowing you to contribute to a shared vision of peace, prosperity, and mutual understanding. Your active involvement will not only enrich your own experience but also contribute to the collective efforts to shape the Euro-Mediterranean region as an area of peace, shared prosperity and dialogue between cultures and civilisations.

How Are Members Selected?

The ALF Networks operate independently and autonomously. The HoNs will make decisions regarding membership admission, and your application will be sent to them once submitted.

ALF’s Networks thrive on diversity. Each network member interprets intercultural dialogue through their unique lens, leading to creative problem-solving and effective implementation strategies. This diversity in thought and approach strengthens our ability to address regional challenges, ensuring that solutions are adapted to local contexts and contribute to building a more cohesive and understanding Euro-Mediterranean region.
