Benji Cachia, also known as Banjo Rancho, is an acclaimed multi-percussionist and international touring musician known for his performance, collaboration, and educational work across diverse musical and multidisciplinary fields. He has toured with his own projects and collaborated with renowned artists such as Pete Lockett, John Butler, Guthrie Govan, and Giri Udupa. His latest solo endeavor, Akshara, explores rhythm as a language, blending global percussion traditions with contemporary sounds and personal sonic research. Beyond performing, Benji is dedicated to education, conducting workshops worldwide that use rhythm as a tool for creativity, communication, and empowerment, working with children, adults, and people with disabilities. His work is showcased in concerts, festivals, workshops, and interdisciplinary settings internationally. Reflecting on recent achievements, Benji notes that his solo project has gained significant momentum, evolving through collaborations with dancers and visual artists, and expanding on international stages. Looking ahead to 2026–2027, he plans to further develop his project, with exciting announcements expected later in the year. He is preparing for an India tour at the end of the year, alongside summer performances across Malta and Europe with various bands and solo shows. His focus remains on growth, openness, and exploring new musical directions.
