Celebrating International Women's Day - Cork International Film Festival
On International Women's Day Cork International Film Festival celebrated the women shaping the world of cinema - directors, writers, producers, actors, and storytellers whose voices inspire and empower.
Cork International Film Festival is proud to showcase female talent through film and education. At their landmark 70th edition this November, they presented the prestigious Audentia Award, awarding €30,000 to a female filmmaker to invest in their next feature, and supporting bold and original storytelling. CIFF is honoured to have been selected for the presentation of the Audentia Award, in partnership with the Council of Europe’s Eurimages Fund, in their 70th anniversary year. The Award was created by Eurimages alongside a raft of other measures to promote greater gender equality in the European film industry. Audentia - meaning “courage” and “bravery” in Latin - reflects two vital qualities for any woman wishing to pursue a career in film directing. With the Audentia Award, Eurimages and CIFF intends to celebrate women who have had the courage to make that choice, by giving their work greater visibility and inspiring other women to follow in their footsteps.
