Checks and Balances Game Training in Ankara

Language: English

9-10 February 2026 - Keçiören/Ankara/TÜRKİYE

ALF Türkiye Network members, Keçiören Municipality and the Youth Thought Institute, successfully co-organized the "Checks and Balances Game – Training of Trainers" at the Atatürk Republic Tower in Ankara.

This impactful capacity-building program was designed to spread awareness about active citizenship, participatory democracy, and transparency in local governance. Expert trainers engaged participants—including local citizens, youth workers, and civil society representatives—through interactive parliamentary simulations. Participants took on roles such as MPs and civil society delegates, experiencing accountability mechanisms, budget audits, and the separation of powers firsthand.

By completing this training, participants received a "Trainer Competence Certificate," empowering them to disseminate these democratic practices within their local communities. We celebrate this grassroots initiative for increasing awareness of civic participation and strengthening democratic culture across the Euro-Med region.
