FLAGSHIP PROGRAMMES
We are excited to share an important opportunity to engage with key questions about the future of professional theatre. On November 21, 2024, we invite you to join a symposium on the Social Responsibility of the Performing Arts, where we will explore how the theatre world can become more inclusive and accessible to people in marginalized communities. The event will focus not just on how we can invite diverse audiences to experience theatre, but also on how we can actively involve them in the creation of it.
This symposium will present a range of international examples of institutions and projects that have successfully engaged diverse groups, giving them the space to explore and express their artistic voices. Through talks, presentations, and interviews with artists, researchers, and practitioners, we will discuss the social responsibility of the performing arts and the possibilities and barriers to including more diverse voices and bodies in professional theatre.
Key speakers at the symposium include:
- Farnaz Arbabi, Artistic Director at Unga Klara (Stockholm)
- Olof Hanson, Artistic Director at Vällingby/Husby Kulturhus (Stockholm)
- Ilene Sørbøe, Dramaturg and Director of Borgerteatret at Oslo Nye Teater (Oslo)
- Trovania Delille, Akademie Der Autodidakten at Ballhaus Naunynstraße (Berlin)
- Moritz Schramm, Associate Professor at the Institute of Culture and Linguistics, SDU (Odense)
- Bābak Vakili, Author, Podcast Documentary Maker, and Director
- Mikkel Flyvholm, Director, Consultant, and Teacher
The event will take place from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at C:NTACT, Edisonsvej 10, Frederiksberg.
