Craft, Culture, Creativity: The Role of Artisanship in the Contemporary Creative Sector

On April 15, 2025, during Italy's "Day of Made in Italy," Materahub presented Craftwork4All, Europe's first platform dedicated to emerging artisans, at the San Michele a Ripa Grande complex in Rome. This initiative, supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture, aims to elevate the role of craftsmanship within the cultural and creative sectors, recognizing it as both a heritage and a driver of innovation. The event also highlighted the new "Made in Italy" Framework Law, which formally acknowledges Cultural and Creative Industries as a significant economic sector, introducing measures to protect traditional crafts and certify Italian-made products. Through Craftwork4All, Materahub seeks to provide artisans with increased visibility, mobility, and international opportunities, fostering a dynamic space that blends entrepreneurial, social, and artistic facets of contemporary craftsmanship. This platform aspires to empower artisans not only as custodians of cultural heritage but also as active agents driving cultural and economic transformation across Europe.
