The Anna Lindh Foundation Lithuanian Network launched its new Cultural Diplomacy event “A Tandem for Peace and Security”, held in Vilnius.
The event brought together members of civil society organizations, diplomats, and experts to discuss the role of cultural diplomacy in addressing contemporary challenges facing the Euro-Mediterranean region. The initiative had an aim to strengthen cooperation between civic actors and the diplomatic community while highlighting the contribution of dialogue and intercultural understanding for peace and security.
During the event, our Network members shared national perspectives and presented examples of initiatives that contribute to peacebuilding, social cohesion, and community resilience. Representatives of the Lithuanian diplomatic community complemented these discussions with insights from both Euro-Mediterranean and international perspectives.
A key message that emerged from the discussions was: "To listen to and understand one another, even when we do not agree."
Experienced Lithuanian and international diplomats also reflected on successful models of cooperation between civil society and diplomatic actors, emphasizing the importance of trust, dialogue, and cross-sector collaboration in responding to current security challenges.
