Czech Head of Network joins Dialogue for Co-Existence workshop in Cairo along with ALF members from Egypt, Denmark, Cyprus and Spain

The Dialogue for Coexistence, a two-day workshop commenced on February 11, bringing together representatives from the Anna Lindh Foundation Networks to foster intercultural dialogue, counter hate speech, and promote peaceful coexistence. The initiative was organised by Partners For Transparency (Egyptian ALF Network) in collaboration with Crossing Borders (ALF Denmark) and IEMed (ALF Spain).

The opening session was led by:

Merna Shalash, President of Partners For Transparency (ALF Egypt)

Gemma Aubarell, IEMed (ALF Spain)

Garba Diallo, Crossing Borders (ALF Denmark)

Jakub Chabr, Institute of International Relations Prague (ALF Czechia)

Additionally, Garba Diallo and Gemma Aubarell each led specialized sessions, addressing specific topics and practical skills aimed at strengthening participants’ capacity to engage in meaningful intercultural dialogue and cooperation.

On February 12, the discussions focused on hate speech in the Euro-Mediterranean region, featuring contributions from Nenad Bogdanovic (Organisation for European Programmes & Cultural Relations, ALF Cyprus). The session was followed by interactive activities, where Egyptian youth engaged in a constructive debate on hate speech and explored the power of dialogue as a tool for fostering coexistence.

Throughout the workshop, discussions and practical training underscored a fundamental message:

Hate speech has no place in a resilient society and must never be mistaken for or justified as freedom of expression.

The event highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in strengthening intercultural dialogue and building bridges of understanding.

Together, we continue working towards a more inclusive and tolerant society.
