Bookpresentation about the De grote koloniale oorlog (the large colonial war) of Chris van der Ploeg

To understand contemporary warfare Dutch journalist, activist and author Chris van der Ploeg, specialized in modern colonialism, dug into the objectives of warfare and the need to  critically evaluate the history of wars which serve objectives that the general audience is not aware off. Current wars can be explained in the context of 500 years of colonial warfare that fought all forms of resistance to capitalism. The Second WorldWar is presented to the public as the fight of the free world against fascism. With the Cold War a comparible dichotomy is presented. The historiography we are familiar with in the West is incomplete which creates a narrative with strong mythical elements.

Van der Ploeg describes how capital and imperialism is a centuries old phenomenon and never disapeared from the worldscene, continuing to suppress peoples worldwide and explaining why large numbers of people live in poverty.
