The Deaconess Foundation has published a new Mentor’s Handbook designed to support mentors working with Roma women across Europe, offering practical tools to build trust, understanding and empowerment through mentoring.
The handbook was developed as part of the RomniME project, coordinated by the Deaconess Foundation, which aims to enhance inclusion and opportunities for young Roma women in four European countries through tailored mentoring processes.
Based on real mentoring experiences, research and international best practices, the guide provides tools, methods and case examples for both current and future mentors as well as trainers. It emphasises culturally sensitive approaches, intersectional understanding and ethical principles for effective mentoring relationships.
Translated into five languages, the Mentor’s Handbook is intended to support organisations and individuals in launching or improving mentoring programmes that promote dignity, social inclusion and mutual learning.
The initiative reflects the Deaconess Foundation’s long-standing commitment to addressing inequality and strengthening civil society’s capacity to support vulnerable communities.
