DIS Teater Banja Luka - “I BI MRAK” (And it would be dark)
The play "I BI MRAK" explores artistic freedom and freedom of thought, questioning authority and social norms. Inspired by authentic stories of young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina, this stage play opens up space for discussion about the limits of expression and the importance of free thought in contemporary society.
The play "I BI MRAK", author and director Ognjen Bogdanović, is a co-production of the Youth Scene of the Bosnian National Theatre Zenica, DIS - Youth Theatre Banja Luka, Croatian National Theatre Mostar and the Žepče Cultural Centre.
According to Ognjen Bogdanović, author and director of the play: "We came together to try to create a play that has a serious plan for further festival life and for performance in general. In the plot of the play, young people get the opportunity to create the world from scratch, but at the same time they are given a button that allows them to reset the world if they make a mistake somewhere. The play itself is based on improvisation that emerged in the process of research while we were looking for what is interesting to them in today's world. We poked around a bit and came up with some themes that are obviously repeated among young people, and from that we started creating a play that we called "I would be dark".
The universal message of the play, i.e. its goal is to make people aware and to be aware that they are the ones who are the creators of their own happiness and that the levers of change are in their hands, and it is up to them whether they want to use them and how to use them".
The play features: Andrej Dojčinović, Dušica Lakić, Vanja Banjac, Ema Duraković, Mak Nizamić, Marko Nenad Dropulja and Anđela Dunđer. Premiere performances are scheduled for Sunday, January 26 in Banja Luka, Wednesday, February 5 in Mostar, Thursday, February 6 in Žepče, and Friday, February 7 in Zenica.
