DOUBLE MEETING ON THE CONSEQUENCES OF WAR

Language: English

20 April 2026, Lamezia Terme (CZ), Italy – Istituto Rambaldi–De Fazio (morning) & Parish Hall of San Francesco (evening)

The movement Umanità in Ricerca, of which Comunità Progetto Sud, Agesci, Azione Cattolica, Pax Christi, Mago Merlino and the co‑operative In Rete are promoters, organised a double public meeting on 20 April 2026 to discuss the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
The morning session, held at the Istituto Rambaldi–De Fazio in Lamezia Terme, was reserved for final‑year students and featured a testimony from international co‑operator Francesco Tropea, who answered questions from students and staff.
In the evening the discussion moved to the parish hall of San Francesco. Tropea dialogued with Michela Vottari from Comunità Progetto Sud, offering reflections on the humanitarian, migratory, economic and social consequences of the three‑year‑old war.
Organisers highlighted that Sudan’s conflict has caused around 400 000 deaths and over 10 million displaced people, yet receives little public attention; the meetings aimed to inform citizens and encourage open debate about peace.
