The Foundation for Sustainable Living (FSL), in collaboration with the Egyptian community in Luxembourg, local cultural organisations, musicians, and partners of the Fête de la Musique Luxembourg, organised the Egyptian Folk Festival at Bâtiment 4 in Esch-sur-Alzette on 20 June 2026. The festival invited the public to discover the richness of Egyptian cultural heritage through music, crafts, gastronomy, and interactive activities in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

The event featured a diverse programme including workshops on the making of traditional musical instruments such as the kawala, arghoul, and rababa, musical exchange sessions with Egyptian artists, demonstrations of traditional music styles including Balady, Mawal, Zar, and Sufi music, authentic Egyptian cuisine and refreshments, games inspired by Ancient Egypt, and a closing concert by the band Nuun. An additional workshop on inclusive creative methods, organised within the framework of the Erasmus+ INSPIRE project, explored how artistic and educational approaches can foster the inclusion of people with migrant backgrounds, refugees, and persons with disabilities.

By bringing together artists, cultural practitioners, and visitors from diverse backgrounds, the festival aimed to promote intercultural dialogue, celebrate cultural diversity, and strengthen mutual understanding through shared artistic experiences.
